The Gifts of Community

Lately my life has been about growing community and reaching out to people of faith. As mentioned previously I have joined my local UU church, and in series of events that seem divinely inspired I have been hired to run the office of the campus UU center (something that presents all sorts of opportunities). I’m gathering folks to help produce a show for religious progressives on a new community low-power fm station, and in another sign of synchronicity the outgoing office manager of the previously mentioned UU campus center is also a Pagan who convinced me to come out to a monthly Pagan social that I hadn’t been to in a while, which turned out to be quite pleasant. On top of all this my UU church’s social action committee has been invited to send people to a gathering of local social justice/peace churches to coordinate efforts and take stronger stands on issues like the Iraq war.

Sometimes it is remarkable how your life will blossom if you are open to it. This may change, but at the moment I feel I have started my journey towards something bigger than my own ego. A life that is spent in service to my gods, my faith community, my family and to building a better world for everyone.
