Speaking of Pagan Musicians
Rock and roll musician, writer, and self-proclaimed “Arch Drude” Julian Cope (most famous in America for his time with the band The Teardrop Explodes) is in the news thanks to his upcoming European tour. The paper wasn’t sure what to say about Cope (whom they think is a nutter) so they just ran a page full of his quotes.

“Rock and roll can be Gnostic and transcendental. It’s paganism – the sheer act of putting on a guitar, standing in front of a group waiting to play the song is such a pagan act.” – Julian Cope, Cambridge Evening News
Of course if you head to the source, you can read Cope unfiltered.
“Fuck that, brothers & Sisters, I’m anti-EVERYTHING! I’m at war with EVERYTHING! Fuck religions that hate women, fuck religions that hate gays, and fuck the state and fuck any caste system that says YOU CAN’T. Well, I CAN Motherfuckers! I ain’t even parking they way they want me to. As Venom once sung, I’m even at war with Satan! I’m through with it all. Caste systems? I’m Overcaste, I’m the coming storm, a comingstormbringing out new rules. Damn Foxhunters, damn royalty, damn Nazis, damn Invisible Sky Gods, Damn corporations? Rock’n'roll will prevail.”
Aside from his rock and roll lifestyle, Cope is also the author of two non-fiction books dealing with pre-historic monuments and sites. “The Modern Antiquarian” and “The Megalithic European”. The books have won him the praise of academics like Aubrey Burl and Ronald Hutton.
