A Rare Moment of Clarity
Perhaps proving that the olds gods really do work through humanity, John Bogert columnist for the Daily Breeze while in the midst of mocking Pagans he feels are too “overweight” to celebrate the coming of spring naked has a shocking moment of clarity.
“Stonehenge remains one of the few places on earth where the past remains both unaltered and accessible in almost any fantasy form that we choose. It was there that I witnessed a ring of dancing, muddy, nude, overweight women claiming to be Druid priestesses. It was there that I also wondered why it is almost always overweight women who choose to dance naked. And they were doing this despite how a timeline erected near the adjacent below-ground snack bar and souvenir stand indicates that the Neolithic site predates the Druids by ages. But Druid sounds cool and being a Druid priestess sounds even better if you happen to be an overweight woman who enjoys dancing about in freezing mud.”
Then…zap!
“In reality, the first day of spring doesn’t amount to anything except a reason for me to be unkind to those who take it as a moment to be happy, to rejoice and celebrate life. And, now that I think about it, I really should be ashamed.”
I guess the moral is to never underestimate the power of the gods (or overweight naked Druid priestesses). Maybe if enough of us start dancing naked without shame for our bodies we can move up from minor newspaper columnists and start illuminating major political figures.
