I confess to enjoying the irony of a town board having to sit through our prayers, intentions, or in/evocations. They were so obsessed with using their meetings as excuse to chalk up points from their Xtian god or win converts, it backfired on them--now they have to include everyone. They'll be tolerant--AND LIKE IT! Heh! I don't know if I'm buying the fact that they were doing this to be inclusive. I think they are hoping, in the long run, to keep their prayers sectarian--and Xtain. Perhaps good will come of this, and people we see us as the harmless people we are. Then again, I have to say I agree mostly with AU and the 'separation of church state' doctrine. This tradition has allowed a great diversity of religion and spirituality in this country, and indeed has resulted in the US being one of the most religious industrialized countries. I don't think there's any place for Jesus at governmental meetings. At best, prayers should be nonsectarian.

A lawsuit isn't exactly the best way of introducing yourself. Let's see now, "hi, I just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Darla Kaye Wynn, I thought you might enjoy these nice tomatoes I grew, I got more than I need and I'd hate to see them go to waste. By the way, I'm a Wiccan"- versus"Hi, I'm Darla Kaye Wynn and I'm going to sue your ass for praying to your screwey Christ at the Town Hall meeting."Of course you can't please everybody but you can make the attempt to not piss everybody off.Hopefully the folks in Great Falls Montana have enough sense to know some fights are better avoided, or at least approached in somewhat less belligerent fashion.
