Nobody forces people to go on a buying frenzy, spending too much money and wearing out their limited vocabulary of curses. Many people of all religions have given up the rat race and just celebrate whatever they believe in at this time of year, quietly, sans piles of gifts. That said, I would say a hearty 'thank you' if the Christians en masse decided to pick another day for their celebration. First look at a good pagan calendar and then pick a day that something important isn't going on. Christmas, Solstice, Yule, it’s what you make it.
