Ted Andrews 1952 – 2009

Word has come to us that well-known spiritual teacher and author Ted Andrews passed away on October 24th. Andrews is perhaps best known among Pagans for his 1996 book “Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small” and many other animal-themed works. He also authored books on Qabala, divination, and other psychic and occult practices, many for Llewellyn Worldwide.

Ted Andrews

“Ted’s books on animal magick are some of the best loved in the Wiccan community and are some of the most often used references for animal correspondences and animal magick … Ted was so respected for his writing and work with animals that he was invited to speak at the United Nations in New York in 2007. On October 24, 2009, Ted Andrews crossed the veil and returned to the Great Mother. His passing will leave a great void in many ways, especially because of his ability to bridge the gap between the Pagans and non-Pagans through his work with animals.”Rowan Pendragon

In addition to writing books about connecting spiritually with animals, Andrews also worked in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and engaged in animal education and storytelling programs in school classrooms. He was, if you’ll forgive the expression, a truly rare bird in the field of New Age and occult literature, someone who walked their talk. For a fuller bio of his accomplishments, check out his page at Dragonhawk Publishing. May he find rest and peace.

Sad news, can't believe it is true! A couple of years ago I joined a weekend course in The Netherlands.
He was a great teacher and storyteller. So much joy and light that weekend was.
Ted, thank you for who you are and your legacy of books and teachings.
I wish his family strength and loads of lovely memories.

I love Ted Andrews books for my spiritual growth and that of others. I am a new humble Wicca student and self initiated. Among the books that I enjoy about Ted Andrews is Animal Speak, Psychic Protection and the Animal Wise Tarot. I believe they are amazing for anybody who wants to expand their spiritual path. Ted Andrews will be miss and remember forever.

I am very glad to have met him at a book signing at the Mystic Valley(?) book store before he passed through the veil. An awesome and kind hearted person who is missed by us all, esp his animal companions.

Only found out about Ted when I was trying to sort out my two looney terriers via a lady reiki practitionaire. Being into shmanism and all we got talking and I asked if she had heard of Tom Brown Jnr,. She hadnt so that was a good link, then she mention Ted Andrews. Have since bought and read several of his books. Gob smacked when I googled and found he had gone. Such a shame, such a great bloke. But you can never understand why or when? Namaste from Wolves England.

Well, one thing is obvious: dying at 50 some is not a blessing. I at least hope you will understand that something was deadly wrong with Ted. Exactly: deadly wrong. Delving in all that devilish paraphernalia even if you call it long lost and suppressed by Christianity ancient spirituality yields fruit. Guys, get it right and get your hearts right. Repent. Only blood of Jesus can cleanse your sins and only His Holy Soirit can lead. No animals or their spirits or any counterfeit “guardian” angels. Wake up!

Aren’t you wonderful, using a man’s death to promote an intolerant faith?

/Jesus/ would be disappointed in you, I bet. At least, that’s the impression I got from, you know, reading the Bible.

I’ve had Animal Speak and Animal Wise for years. Today, I got into a discussion with a friend of mine about animal totems and his name came up so I googled him hoping to find he had his own website. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family. His passing is a great loss to us all.

I was very blessed to have met Ted during his time here, on this realm. He told me a great deal about myself which sent me on my Spiritual path. I have been following his teachings and readings his books since that special day. When I learned of his passing I was greatly saddend. However I know he is still with us in spirit for that would have been his way…
