In the Greek Orthodox tradition, there is no belief in a hell of fire as the Latins believe. No, the fire experienced by the haters of God is the same fire of Holy love as experienced by those who abide in love (St. John's epistles) Those who love, experience this Holy fire as all empowering and embracing, and are confirmed in their love and choices of love for all eternity. Those who die rejecting the love of God, are in fact rejecting love itself---and the same unconsumable fire of God's love is percieved as torturous to those who have harbored and insisted on hate in their hearts. The Holy Spirit invites the soul into a love relationship with the Trinity and with all creation. Those who welcome love (Jesus says welcome the light) continue to grow from grace to grace and strength to strength in the fire of that undying love. But for those who hate love--who hate the light---that love is experienced as a thing of discord and distress. They (hate the light) as Jesus said. And most assuradely, many who profess and call themselves Christians may find that they actually "hate the light" in their brothers and sisters who don't share their world view. Fear is always the enemy of love--and being a Christian is not guarentee that we have chosen the light. Rather it is the invitation to cherish and seek that holy light of love which is The Holy Spirit that makes one into the likeness of Christ. His goodness, his universality. This is an orthodox way and actually a Celtic way in some respects. May Mary Daly learn to love the light finally through the work of the Holy Spirit which continues until the end of all time. May there be found for her healing from what things we do not know about her life..e.g. was she sexually abused? Was She sexualized at an early age? These things can warp us--and cause us to see in the wrong light the things of life and their good, in proper balance. Thanks for letting me share with you people of peace.

...but sure, keep telling yourself it was all about "freedom" with her.

Now I can see them all. Could be a bug in the Intense Debate software? Firefox 3.0.10 on MacOS 10.5.8, in case anybody is looking into it.

Hey, wouldn't it be just perfect Karma if Daly found herself resting in the arms of a God instead? Here's to hoping! ;)
