Cob-and-bale construction with turf roofs such as those produced by Simon Dale, and NUMEROUS others around the world produce a home that is actually quite cool in the summer, and can mostly be warmed with both passive and photo-voltaic solar heating in the winter. Small gardens can be grown on the roof, and water run-off collected for watering one's lawn by placing 55gl drums under the downspouts of one's guttering. In Germany they've been producing cars that run on compressed air, the tanks being charged by compressors run on solar power. THAT is thinking with portals! If everyone took small steps, it would be a huge leap forward for our species.
