World Religions Through Scriptures: New Harvard EDX Course

World Religions Through Scriptures: New Harvard EDX Course February 13, 2016

Harvard University is offering  a series of  free edX courses about World Religions through their Scriptures starting March 1st.

The fist introductory course, Religious Literacy: Traditions and Scriptures, will explore the diversity of religion and the ways in which religions change and evolve as living traditions.

Diane Moore, a senior lecturer on religious studies and education, a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions, and director of the Religious Literacy Project, will teach the introductory course, along with religious scholars from the other major traditions. Moore outlines the course in the short clip below.

The other courses in the series examine scriptures specific to each religion. The schedule begins with Christianity on April 1st, then Buddhism on May 3rd, Islam on June 1st, Hinduism on July 5th, and Judaism on August, 2nd.

Some of the courses really look fascinating. For example, according to the Harvard Gazette, Hollis Professor of Divinity Karen King, will take students on a virtual tour of Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

You can take the modules individually, or all together.
