83 year-old nun caught trying to steal uranium.

Well this is just weird.

A federal jury has found an 83-year-old nun and two fellow protesters guilty of breaking into the Y-12 National Security Complex and defacing a uranium processing plant.

Man, good thing she wasn’t aiding and abetting child rapists, otherwise her punishment may be to be made pope.

I just…what was she going to do with the uranium?

Holy crap. Turns out the lady’s a hero. Good for her!

Sorry, her much more serious crime preventing this promotion is being born a woman.

You should get the facts straight JT. She wasn’t trying to steal uranium. She was a in a group of 3, looking to protest nuclear weapons by painting peace signs and slogans on the buildings. Which they did before surrendering themselves to a guard, offering him flowers.

There was never an intent, or attempt to enter any of the buildings to “steal uranium”.

I tried to post the same, but failed.
But yeah, reading comprehension failure on the ‘crime’ there JT.

      Still…weird situation. I wonder if it’s a sin to protest like a hippie….

Jon beat me to it. IIRC, no one even knew they were in the plant until they actively found the guard and turned themselves in.

      Yes. This nun did good.

breaking into the Y-12 National Security Complex and defacing a uranium processing plant.

Not a good idea, given some of the the things that are played with inside the buildings at Oak Ridge – unless she knows her way around, she should stay outside the fence.

But also not at all the same thing as trying to steal uranium. Can you fix the headline?

So it really does only take two nuns in a rowboat. I always wondered why nuns had shoe phones instead of cell phones.

This is not what happened at all! Way to erase one of the bravest protests in a long time.

  • islandbrewer

This wasn’t the first time she’s broken into the place. The strangest thing about this was that they had to go searching for a guard to make their presence known, because it’s not really a protest if no one knows you’re there.
