American Atheists is asking for help from relatives of victims of 9/11.

This is kind of uncomfortable to write.  American Atheists sent me an email this morning saying they were in urgent need of non-believers who had relatives die in the 9/11 attacks.  They wouldn’t say what for.  I emailed them back to say I was uncomfortable helping since those wounds never tend to heal and I wouldn’t set up dead people to be potentially exploited, even for a cause I love and for an organization I love and trust.

Dave Muscato, old friend and PR person for AA, understood.  Dave told me that AA is under a court order to not speak about what it was for, and so he could not tell me what this is about.

So here we are.  I suspect they are looking for plaintiffs for a lawsuit about the memorial cross, but I don’t know.  If you are a surviving relative of somebody who died in those attacks and want to see if you can help American Atheists with this mysterious project, you can contact Dave Muscato at  908-276-7300 extension 7, or email dmuscato@atheists.org if you are interested in helping.

Do it only if you’re comfortable.
