Ken Ham: god’s judgment looks exactly like god’s non-judgment.

A sad thing happened at the creation museum recently (you might think “people attended”, and you’d be right, but that’s not what I’m talking about).  A lightning strike charged a piece of equipment and one of their employees touched it and got shocked.  Thankfully, his injuries were minor at most.

But people asked the logical question: Ken Ham has said in the past that natural disasters are punishment from god for homosexuality or other innocuous things, so wouldn’t this be god punishing the creation museum?  Well, Ham has responded:

“Well first of all, we certainly do say that ‘disasters’ and ‘personal tragedies’ are the result of God’s judgment–God’s judgement BECAUSE of our sin in Adam! Romans 8.22 makes it clear the whole world groans because of our sin,” Ham wrote. “The fact we get sick and die is because of God’s judgment on sin! But praise the Lord, God had a plan from eternity to save us from the consequence of our sin–He paid the penalty for our sin and offers us a free gift of salvation (Romans 10:9).”

So god’s judgment falls upon Christians just as much as gays, murderers, thieves, etc…just like you’d expect in a universe with no god, where storms and natural disasters struck at random, rather than on people who most offended the Christian faith.

It would be pretty good evidence if only one religion or religious sect was immune, or at least not affected as much, to disease and disaster instead of having everyone equally affected, regardless of religious affiliation.

Especially if you could see a change in suffering rates for those who joined and those who left that sect. You’d need a decent sample size and have to control for demographics but it’d be doable.

      Disaster yes, disease probably not.

“Humans are filthy with sin and need to wash their hands a lot” – decrease in communicable disease.

      • iknklast

But disease caused by demonic possession was the normal idea, promoted by Jesus himself, so that doesn’t necessarily follow. Hand-washing isn’t necessarily an offshoot of the idea of being filthy with sin (the Muslims wash a lot, and the Jews require cleanliness, but one of the things in the New Testament was the idea that Jesus apparently wasn’t obsessed with washing)

Why would an all powerful god need a plan from eternity to save us from the consequence of our sin? Why not create Adam and Eve with the ability to see the tempting serpent’s (who was also created by god and placed in the garden) arguments as the deceptions that they were so they could freely make the choice to sin or not sin without the deception.

But they didn’t have knowledge of good and evil until after they ate the apple. So they would not have been able to discern the difference between being tempted and being offered a delicious snack.

      Full disclosure: It’s all bullshit.

The fact we get sick and die is because of God’s judgment on sin! But praise the Lord, God had a plan from eternity to save us from the consequence of our sin–He paid the penalty for our sin and offers us a free gift of salvation (Romans 10:9).

So if the consequences of sin is death, and god saved us from those consequences, does that mean Christians don’t get sick or die? What a cruel thing to say to Christian cancer patients.

So which god struck? Thor? Zeus? Set? All are known lightning wielders. And I don’t blame them for being pissed off. Ham thinks a puny rain god, who says he won’t play with rain to excess any more, controls the elements of thunder and lightning.

      Pikachu.

      All Pika-Pika-Praise him. Pika-Pika.

,The fact we get sick and die is because of God’s judgment on sin! ”

I am just so sick to death of this ignorant shit. There is no evidence, none, zero, that some fanciful humans in some fanciful time lived to amazing ages without benefit of medicine of any kind, it’s a fucking MYTH people. And an OBVIOUS one!

Or god could be on a few millenia long bender after smoking all the weed and opium he created at first, you know, just to try the first batch…

It takes a really sick person to justify god judging us for acting exactly how he created us to act, and finding *us* to be the ones lacking.
