In an interview with Jan Markell about the 2016 elections and the increasingly likelihood that Hillary Clinton will be elected president, Bachmann brought out the GOP’s secret weapon: god.
Bachmann pushed back on Markell’s fera that Hillary Clinton will be elected president: “I don’t at all because I look at the story of David and Goliath, all David needed was one smooth stone to fell the giant. It wasn’t the stone, it wasn’t David, it was the strong right arm of a Holy God.”
She said that if “we repent, if we cry out to God, we have no idea what the Lord God will do for us in 2016.”
This is, presumably, the same god that told Bachmann, Rick Perry, and Mike Huckabee that he wanted them to run for president in 2012. I’ll bet it’s even the same god who heard all the same Republican’s praying themselves blue over the 2012 elections and didn’t do squat.
But this time, this time, god’s gonna come through. For real. Why try to come up with policies that allow you to win legitimately by vote on a national scale when you can rely on a guy who rose from the dead 2,000 years ago? That’s how you solve problems, right? Let me tell you how much I can’t wait to let those people into office if they handle America’s problems with the same totally legit way they handle their own: hoping something else (god) will take care of it.
