Mayor of Newark brands god’s will as an unworthy reason to stop gay marriage.

Cory Booker is the mayor of Newark and he’s totally down with equality for the LGBT folk.  So much so that he presided over New Jersey’s first gay wedding.  But, wouldn’t you know it, some Christian who thinks the private lives of others is his business decided to interrupt by screaming “this is unlawful in the name of god” when Booker asked if anybody had any objections to the union of the two men.

Heckler interrupts first wedding -- "This is unlawful in the name of god" -- when booker asks for objections. He is escorted out.

Booker had the pious killjoy removed and then gave the perfect assessment of what had transpired:

after ordering heckler remove, "I do not hear any substantive, worthy objections."

Hell yes.  If god wants human beings to be miserable, god can get bent.

I think it’s worth mentioning in this article that Mayor Cory Booker is also U.S. Senator-elect Cory Booker.

And yay for him for “I do not hear any substantive, worthy objections”!

Funny how god always needs humans to speak or act on his behalf. If gay marriage pisses god off so much, why didn’t he come down and object himself? Is it because he’s not real? Hmmmm, sure seems likely.
