Soccer: The Great Liberal Conspiracy!

Conspiracy theories are never in short supply on the political right in the US, but this has to be a new level of crazy.

Speaking to Fox News today, guest Dr. Keith Ablow said he is suspect of the timing of America’s World Cup Game against Germany, saying:

“I am suspect because, here’s the thing. Why, at a time when there are so many national and international issues of such prominence — I’m a little suspicious of yet another bread-and-circus routine. Let’s roll out the marijuana, pull back the laws, and get people even more crazy about yet another entertainment event.”

Other guests on the show did not buy such an painfully idiotic claim, asking Ablow, “what’s wrong with you?” and “What are you talking about?” asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, who made it clear her son played soccer. “This is encouraging for kids to get out and play sports, and you can play soccer from a young age.”

Ablow still found it odd that people are “playing games more than ever.”

This would not be so alarming if Ablow was not a mental health doctor.
