Acts of terror, senseless violence, wars, rumors of wars, budget crises, scary headlines, scandal, political vitriol, etc., etc., got you down? It’s good to remember that life goes on, and is worth living. It is good to remember that for “the world,”
These were their thoughts, but they erred;
for their wickedness blinded them,
And they did not know the hidden counsels of God;
neither did they count on a recompense
for holiness nor discern the innocent souls’ reward.
For God formed us to be imperishable;
the image of his own nature he made us.
But by the envy of the devil,
death entered the world,
and they who are allied with him
experience it. (Wisdom 2:21-24)
For as Our Lord and King reminds us to not give in to fear of the evil ones’ allies,
“Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:26-31)
The Word and the Life, the Creator of all that is visible and invisible reminds us of this through the beauty he has created and enabled here on earth. Let these photographs give us something to ponder in the midst of our sorrows.

Take courage, my children, call on God: he will deliver you from tyranny, from the hands of your enemies; for I look to the Eternal for your rescue, and joy has come to me from the Holy One at the mercy soon to reach you from your savior, the Eternal. (Baruch 4:21-22)
