Gunnery Practice

This morning, I’ve been firing test shots from the gun deck to make sure all the link thingies for Networked Blogs are working. If you have been bombarded on Facebook and Twitter lately, that’s the reason. I’m firing this post off to see if it goes right down the pickle barrel too. If it does, all systems will be “go” and YIMCatholic 2.0 will be “good to go.” If it doesn’t, I’ll go back to the range for more practice.

Signed,

Your Intrepid Blogger.

SR-71 Blackbird, “Velocitus Incalculus”

Welcome to the first MfM post since moving here to Patheos. See that hurtling piece of machinery above? That’s what the good ship YIMCatholic looked like this week. She’s a Transformer, see? Usually a wind powered, bluff bowed vessel good for 12-15 knots, but sometimes, she goes ballistic like the bird you see above. We’ll get to the reason why later, but first let’s put that picture to some music, [Read more...]

For Thoughts on Faith Like These by Thomas Merton

100,000 Monks Pray for a Better World

I was moved to share Fr. Louis’ (Thomas Merton’s monastic name) thoughts on faith with you when I saw this photograph on one of my friends Facebook pages, coupled with today’s Gospel reading. Perhaps you have seen it too. Won’t you join them in praying for the same? It will only take a few seconds. Here’s a suggestion from St. Faustina, [Read more...]

Jackson Pollock Meets Christ?

Something like that. Have a look at what follows. It’s where modern art meets the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Are any of these artists Catholics? I have no idea, but I do know that these inspired men produce works that well over with Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.  [Read more...]

Half A Million Thanks!

I was just over at YIMCatholic 1.0 looking for something in the archives, when I noticed a milestone for the blog has been reached on this day: 500,000 page views?! How accurate is that doo-hickey (way down below the Holy Family==>>) ? I really have no idea. But it does gives me a neat snapshot of the world like this, [Read more...]

Robert Downey, Jr. Asks Hollywood to Forgive Mel Gibson UPDATED

This past Friday, in the spirit of Christ’s forgiveness of the adulteress when she was presented to him by the holier than thou, a remarkably similar story has come to my attention from an area that I usually steer clear of: the shoals of Hollywood. And yet this is where a stunningly familiar event took place. [Read more...]
