And Now: Satanic black mass ‘postponed indefinitely’ amid outcry.

Earlier,

Perhaps our prayers are already having an effect. This just in from The Harvard Crimson,

The Harvard Extension School Cultural Studies Club said it will relocate its reenactment of a Satanic black mass ritual, scheduled for Monday night, to an off-campus site, citing in an email that “misinterpretations about the nature of the event were harming perceptions about Harvard and adversely impacting the student community.” [Read more...]

Catholic Advocate sends,

An official group at Harvard will hold a Satanic “Black Mass” tonight where they will mock the Catholic Church. The Archdiocese of Boston will hold a Eucharistic Hour of prayer in response. Let us join our voices in prayer tonight with Catholics in Boston.

Since When Did Satan Become Such A Square?

That quote is actually from their website.

That’s the thought that occurred to me when I was reading the Satanic Temple’s mission statement. You know, the folks behind the statue of a figure (that might be Baphomet) they want to install at the state capitol in Oklahoma, and the same group that wants to hold a Black Mass in a pub under the auspices of the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club.

The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people.

“The Bridegroom of the Church is affixed to the Cross with nails.” (A Hymn for Holy Friday)

This is the 15th Antiphon of Holy Friday that is sung in the Orthodox Church, and in the Eastern Rite Catholic Church. Remember that time the disciples were arguing amongst themselves about who would be the greatest? And then the Sons of Thunder got their mommy to ask Jesus if they could sit on his right hand and on his left?

Good times! That’s what we want, too. [Read more...]

To Break My Fast From Being Merciful

Peter Chrysologus, master of the succinct homily.

I came across some wise words of a Doctor of the Church I had never heard of the other day. The subject? The importance of being merciful.

For the longest time, and long before I became a Catholic, I thought being merciless was the correct tack. After all, that is the way of the world. So I was, in an upside down way, fasting from being merciful. [Read more...]

No way, no how? Au contraire…

I saw this video yesterday on Facebook, watched it, and got queasy. Then, I realized it was why I am Catholic.
