Human Trafficking is Not Just a Third World Problem

Just ask the folks from Convenant House. They’ve put together a campaign called Abolish Child Trafficking. The USCCB is dedicated to fighting this scourge as well.

Timothy Dalrymple shares an interview about efforts to stop this blight timed for what has been designated as a National Weekend of Prayer focused on this issue by Christians. [Read more...]

Being Conan the Barbarian vs. Being Civil (The Lost Art of Persuasion) UPDATED

I’ve been not publishing a number of comments these past few days, as they violate the little rule I keep here at the blog. It’s a simple rule based on a passage from St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians,

No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the holy Spirit of God, with which you were sealed for the day of redemption. All bitterness, fury, anger, shouting, and reviling must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.

Cardinal Dolan’s Own “State of the State” Letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York

He sent it under the letterhead of the New York State Catholic Conference. The occasion? The Governor just delivered his State of the State address today, as did other governors.

Last Time I Checked the Hobby Lobby White House Petition…

It looked like this.

A 23:45 EST, the numbers show that 4,199 souls have signed it so far. Truth be told, that is a pretty fair showing, given that it has only been up for two days.

I didn’t write it, but I was the 6th person to sign it. [Read more...]

While The President is On Vacation, Sign This Petition at the White House

A few minutes ago, a citizen named Nick left a comment with a link to a freshly minted petition he has drafted over at the White House in the post where Mike Huckabee said he intends to stand with Hobby Lobby.

I will admit to you that I signed the petition immediately. [Read more...]

Mike Huckabee on Hobby Lobby: “We will stand with them in their resistance.”

Perhaps the doomed, quixotic, movement to confront tyranny, and help Hobby Lobby this coming Saturday,  isn’t so doomed after all. The politician, public speaker, commentator, and Baptist pastor, just posted this message on his Facebook wall.  [Read more...]
