Mr. Biden Gets “the Facts” Wrong

Don Clemmer of the USCCB explains, Detective Joe Friday style.

Last night, the following statement was made during the Vice Presidential debate regarding the decision of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to force virtually all employers to include sterilization and contraception, including drugs that may cause abortion, in the health insurance coverage they provide their employees: [Read more…]

O’Brien Industries’ HHS Mandate Lawsuit Tossed Out

In an earlier post today, I asked a question about corporate personhood. You may recall that the current Administration doesn’t like the idea of a corporation being a person. They don’t care much for the Church being considered a person either.

Back in March, O’Brien Industries was one of the first private corporations to sue the Health and Human Services Department. On Friday, the federal district court in Missouri threw their case out. Rob Vischer over at Mirror of Justice explains what happened, [Read more…]

So If a Corporation is A Person, and A Person Has Rights…

Then why does the government argue in court that a secular corporation doesn’t have rights?

Joe Six-Pack doesn’t know, but it seems awfully strange given the Supreme Courts rulings about corporate personhood, and the rights thereunto pertaining. The Citizens United case comes to my mind.

This is what dislodged the thought above in my very average brain, [Read more…]

Separation of Church and State? The HHS Mandate Shatters That

Which is why it must be rescinded. Yesterday, I talked about how pelvic issues have taken primacy and shared Dr. Helen Alvaré’s talk on the HHS Mandate given back in April. Looking further back to February, someone sent me an e-mail about a free class on the Constitution being offered at Hillsdale College. You can still sign up for that bootstrap class, and throw them some shekels as a donation for good measure. [Read more…]

Orgasm: The Alpha and the Omega of Our Politics? UPDATED

“Oh Frank, what’s with that headline? You’re really just too much. Calm yourself down man, and have a beer or something.”

Actually, there isn’t enough room on the headline to say much more. I could have said, “Sex Viewed Through the Lens of Secularism Drives Our Political Policies.” But that might have put you to sleep. [Read more…]

The Real Casualties of the “War on Women…”UPDATED

No, it’s not Jennifer Lopez dressed in a leopard skin-tight leotard top. Or is it?

Because if the editors of Glamour could put two and two together, they might find that the real solution on “How to Shake Off Anxiety and Live Happy,” might have a lot to do with not being overly concerned with the “12 Naughty Sex Questions You’ve Been Dying to Ask,” or the “10 Things More Important Than Those Last Five Pounds.” [Read more…]

“We Stand for Religious Freedom…”

You know, except for when we don’t.

President Barack Obama said the United States supports religious freedom, despite his administration’s ongoing legal dispute with the Catholic Church and other religious groups.

“I have made it clear that the United States has a profound respect for people of all faiths,” Obama in his weekly address on Saturday. “We stand for religious freedom.” [Read more…]

An Argument Against the HHS Mandate: Keep America Weird

It may seem a strange way for an argument to develop, but really it is the American Way to allow for nonconformists to thrive.  This is one of our country’s hallmark traits, and a fruit of the wisdom of the founders of our republic.

For example, how many Chick-Fil-A’s were burned to the ground during the latest dustup in the American Culture wars? How many protesters were killed? I’m thinking none. And remember the Occupy Wall Street brouhaha? How many cars were set ablaze? How many store front windows were shattered? How many embassies did we raze? [Read more…]

The War On Men…

You may not have noticed it, but it is horrific…

Image credit: the fine print at the bottom.

No access to free beer. What the hell are we thinking?!

Also, is it me, or is that Vladimir Putin? I can’t believe he didn’t manage to get his shirt off for this picture.

Stay thirsty, my friends.

Rebecca Hamilton On How We Become Monsters…

If this post doesn’t cut you to the quick, nothing will. Put on the shoes of the other side, and recall clearly where consequentialism leads, and how if we let it, it will damn us all to Hell. [Read more…]
