Cardinal Dolan on the O’Reilly Factor’s “No Spin Zone” and an Idea to Get Him on Comedy Central Too.

Rocco Palmo scooped this up first, naturally, and it’s fantastic.

Wasn’t that awesome? Bravo Zulu.

But while Rocco waxes euphoric about our favorite USCCB quarterback getting seen by over 3 million (mostly conservative) viewers on Bill O’Reilly’s show, I’m thinking His Excellency should take his show on the road, and head over to Comedy Central and pick up the other viewers too. He should make appearances where the rest of the viewers, including liberals and independents, are: [Read more...]

Mr. President? A Trifecta of Anti-HHS Mandate Videos for the Situation Room

Not so fast, Mr. President. In fact, it appears that you have awoken a sleeping giant. For your viewing pleasure, sir, I present these three excellent videos that express to you, and your Administration, the opinions of the (heretofore) Silent Majority.  I’ve arranged them in order of the number of views they have received on YouTube to date. Joe Six-Pack’s Public Comment on the HHS Mandate “Proposed Rule: Certain Preventive Services Under the Affordable Care Act”

It’s a lovely Saturday, following on the heels of a Friday in which many folks turned out during their lunch hours to stand up for religious liberty. From the photographs I’ve seen posted on Facebook and other blogs, the turnout was pretty good. NPR even reported on the event, as did a few other news outlets, like the Washington Post.

Truth be told, I couldn’t make it to the event that was planned nearest to my home. [Read more...]

Another “Close of Business” HHS Mandate Press Release on a Friday

The Administration is getting good at squeezing off little last minute notices right before the end of the work week on Fridays. Come to think of it, they’ve been doing that since they announced the “Accommodation” back on February 10.

The Washington Examiner has the details, [Read more...]

Guess What? Parts of the HHS Mandate Aren’t Unconstitutional

Says who? Says First Amendment scholar, and Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles, Thomas J. Curry. As a newbie Catholic, and a layman, I’m not familiar with Bishop Curry, or his studies on this issue. Over at the Catholic University of America, though, he recently gave a lecture on the constitutionality of the HHS Mandate. [Read more...]

O’Brien Industrial Holdings, LLC Sues the HHS Department

And the reason? The unconstitutional HHS Mandate, of course. As Frank O’Brien notes, the mandate doesn’t just violate the conscience of religious institutions, but those of all free peoples. The Catholic News Agency has the report,

A Missouri business owner has become the first employer of a for-profit, secular company to bring a lawsuit challenging the Obama administration’s contraception mandate. [Read more...]

Mr. Obama? Beware the Lee Shore…And the Rock UPDATED

Do you know where political careers go to die? Upon the rock that is the Church. God Himself said that, “upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” So if anyone needs to blink in this game of chicken the President and his Administration are playing, it is the Administration, and not the Church.

Maybe in another country, see, one without a strong tradition of the rule of law, or one where cults of personality and the “strongman” were honored instead of “government of the people, by the people, for the people,” this would take a very long time to play out. [Read more...]

A “Recalibration” of the Fight Against The HHS Mandate? Possibly An Announcement Soon UPDATED

A Letter to the President That Explains His Drop in the Polls, A Film, and A Song

Earlier today I wrote a book-length post built around explaining how “confirmation bias,” or what I call “New Media Cocooning,” facilitates our checking our brains at the door and ignoring facts, which helps us cling to beliefs that cannot hold up under the harsh light of reason. Joanne McPortland does a better job of doing the same thing, using March Madness and basketball instead of the stock market.

She wrote an open letter to the Commander-in-Chief, who just happens to be visiting her town for the opening of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. [Read more...]
