PATHEOS FAITH ON CAMPUS VIDEO CONTEST

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

Important:  Please read these rules before entering this contest (the "Contest").

By submitting a video entry ("Video Entry"), you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and represent that you satisfy all of the eligibility requirements set forth below.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST.

1.    Eligibility.  PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE ODDS OF WINNING.  CONTEST VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. CONTEST OPEN ONLY TO UNITED STATES CITIZENS WHO ARE LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE FIFTY (50) UNITED STATES AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND ARE AT LEAST EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE (OR AT LEAST THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN YOUR STATE OF RESIDENCE).  (BUSINESSES, CORPORATIONS, AND OTHER ENTITIES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN A PRIZE, NOR MAY ANY INDIVIDUAL ENTER ON BEHALF OF ANY SUCH ENTITIES.)  IF YOU DO NOT MEET ANY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS, OR ANY OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES, THEN YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN A PRIZE, AND PATHEOS ("SPONSOR") RESERVES THE RIGHT NOT TO AWARD ANY PRIZE TO YOU. To be eligible to win a prize, entries must be completed and received by Sponsor in the format designated below. Directors, officers, competitors, and employees of Sponsor and any of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, professional advisors, agencies, and immediate families of each are not eligible to win any prize. All applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.  There is no limit on entries per person, however, each unique video may only be entered once.

2.    Disclaimer.  Sponsor, all participating sponsors and any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, professional advisors, employees, and agencies (together, the "Released Parties") will not be responsible for: (a) any late, lost, misrouted, garbled, distorted, or damaged transmissions or entries; (b) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or other computer or communications-related malfunctions or failures; (c) any Contest disruptions, injuries, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor or by non-authorized human intervention; or (d) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.

a.    Additionally, each entrant is, by agreeing to these terms, affirming that they have secured the correct release statements when including other people or places of worship in their Video Entry, and the Released Parties are not held liable for image, likeness or other releases not obtained.

3.    Contest Period.  The Contest starts at 12:01 A.M. (all times United States Mountain Standard Time) on November 9, 2009 and ends at 11:59 P.M. on April 15, 2010 (the "Contest Period"). All entries must be received during the Contest Period to be eligible to win a prize.

4.    Prizes. 

a.    One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive the following prizes: Two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500 USD) awarded in the form of a prepaid debit card and a limited set of free advertising for the school or place of worship of their choice (subject to approval by Sponsor).

b.    One (1) Category winner in each of these three categories - Why I Am A ___ , How I Live My Faith On Campus, Rituals & Practices Of My Faith - will receive the following prizes: One thousand dollars ($1,000 USD) awarded in the form of a prepaid debit card and a limited set of free advertising for the school or place of worship of their choice (subject to approval by Sponsor).

c.    One (1) Overall Audience Favorite winner will receive the following prizes: One thousand dollars ($1,000 USD) awarded in the form of a prepaid debit card and a limited set of free advertising for the school or place of worship of their choice (subject to approval by Sponsor).

Odds of winning a prize depend on the number and quality of eligible entries received.  ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.  The prize will be awarded.  The prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternative winner if the winner affidavit and release materials (see Section 12 below) are not returned within five (5) days after mailing to winner or if two (2) attempts to contact winner by phone and/or e-mail are not successful.

The prize is not transferable.  No substitutions or exchanges of any prize will be permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for the prize or any portion of the prize.  The prize is awarded "AS IS" and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

In the event of a dispute about the identity of the entrant, entries made online will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry.  An authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.  The potential winner may be required to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.

5.    How to Enter.  To enter, take the following steps during the Contest Period:

a.    Select a category from one of the three Faith on Campus categories:

o   "Why I Am A _______ "

o   "How I Live My Faith On Campus"

o   "Rituals & Practices Of My Faith"

b.    Create a creative, original video for your Video Entry that demonstrates some of the following:

o   Reasons for personal beliefs

o   Descriptions of an important tradition or event

o   How you practice

o   Views on religion and education

c.    Visit the Patheos Faith On Campus website at faithoncampus.patheos.com, complete the online entry form for the Contest (including by providing your full name, telephone number, e-mail address, and mailing address)

d.    Agree to the Release form

e.    Upload the Video

The Video Entry must be no more than 5 minutes and no less than 30 seconds in duration, and comply with these website terms, conditions, and policies to win.  An entry into the Contest consists of your completed online Entry Form and your Video Entry (together, the "Entry Materials"). Entry Form must be in English.  All requested information must be provided for your entry to be valid.  By entering the Contest, you consent to being placed on an e-mail mailing list for promotional and other purposes.

You may enter the contest as many times as you like and in multiple categories, however, each unique video may only be submitted to the contest one time.

6.    Contest Rules and Judging

a.    Entries will be judged as follows:

·      Beginning on November 9, 2009 and ending April 15, 2010 voting will be open to the public at large.  The public will be able to vote for individual videos, once a day, as many videos as they wish.  Each public voter must follow the online directions to submit his/her vote.  The top twenty (20) with the highest score based on the public vote will be selected as semi-finalists ("Semi-Finalist Videos").  Semi-finalists will not be individually notified, however they will be identified on the Patheos web site.

·      Beginning on or about April 16, 2010 and ending April 23, 2010, a panel of qualified judges, as deemed qualified by Sponsor, will evaluate the semi-finalist entries and select and rank all eligible entries based on the Judging Criteria (defined below).

b.    Entries will be judged on the following "Judging Criteria":

·      The most apt, creative, original and interesting Video Entry that:

o   Demonstrates an impactful and informative take on living faith and spirituality on campus; and

o   Contributes to the global conversation on faith and spirituality.

c.    On or about April 23, 2010, Sponsor will separately average (a) public voter scores and (b) the panel of experts scores for each Semi-Finalist Video, and then combine the public voter and panel of experts averages to calculate the final score for each Semi-Finalist Video.  In calculating the final score, averaged scores for each Semi-Finalist Video will be weighted as follows: The public voter average will count as forty percent (40%), and the panel of experts average will count as sixty percent (60%), of the overall score.

d.    Judges will determine, in their sole discretion but based on the scoring detailed above, the top three (3) videos ("Category Winners") - one (1) per category - and Grand Prize Winner.  In the unlikely event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the highest of the averaged panel of.

e.    Sponsor will notify the winner by telephone and/or e-mail using the information provided in the online entry form on or about April 30, 2010. To claim a prize, the winner must follow the instructions contained in his/her notification.  Sponsor will announce the winner to the public at www.patheos.com on or around May 5, 2010.

7.    Sponsor's Rights to Entry Materials.  You hereby grant to Sponsor a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide nonexclusive license to publish, reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt, edit, modify, translate, create derivative works based upon, and otherwise use and sublicense the Entry Materials, or any portion thereof, in connection with Contest or for other reasonable purposes as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  You further grant Sponsor the right to use certain information about yourself in connection with your Video Entry, including your name, image, and other profile information in connection with the Content.  Sponsor will have no obligation to publish or use or retain any Entry Materials you submit or to return any such Entry Materials to you.  You agree that it is your sole responsibility to obtain all permissions and releases necessary for the grant of the rights contained in this Section 7. 

8.    No Confidentiality.  Entry Materials submitted to Sponsor will not be treated as confidential, and you will not include or disclose any trade secrets or other confidential information, including without limitation confidential information of any third party, in any Entry Materials.

9.    Non-Infringing Entry Materials.  You hereby represent and warrant that (a) you are eligible to enter the Contest;  (b) the Video Entry is original to you and that you are the owner of all right, title and interest in and to the Video Entry and have the right to grant the rights granted herein or, alternatively, you have obtained all necessary rights and permissions to use and submit the Video Entry in connection with the Contest and to provide all the rights specified in these Official Rules; and (c) the Video Entry and the use thereof as contemplated herein does not and will not violate or infringe upon any law or regulation or the rights of any third party, including, without limitation, any copyright, trademark, patent, or any rights of publicity or privacy, or any other intellectual property or proprietary rights.

10. General Release.  By entering the Contest, you release Sponsor and all Released Parties from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Contest or delivery, misdelivery, acceptance, possession, use of or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory.

11. Use of Winner's Name, Likeness, etc.  Except where prohibited by law, entry into the Contest constitutes permission to use winner's name, city/state of residence, likeness, and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation. As a condition of being awarded any prize, except where prohibited by law, winner may be required to execute an additional written consent to the use of their name, city/state of residence, likeness, and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.

12. Affidavit & Release. As a condition of being awarded any prize, winner will be required to execute and deliver to Sponsor a signed affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of these Official Rules and release of liability, and any other required legal, regulatory or tax-related documents.

13. 14. Intellectual Property Notice.  The Contest and all accompanying materials are copyright © 2009/2010 by Patheos.  All rights reserved.

15. Miscellaneous.  The Contest and these Official Rules will be governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of Colorado.  Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all respects.  Sponsor reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time, in its sole discretion, and to suspend, cancel, postpone or extend the Contest or any entrant's participation in the Contest should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor's control affect the administration, security or proper play of the Contest or Sponsor otherwise becomes (as determined in its sole discretion) incapable of running the Contest as planned.  Entrants who violate these Official Rules, violate any law, rule or regulation in connection with participation in the Contest, tamper with the operation of the Contest, engage in any conduct that is detrimental or unfair to Sponsor, the Contest or any other entrant (in each case as determined in Sponsor's sole discretion), or post offensive material (as deemed so by Sponsor and within Sponsor's sole discretion) are subject to disqualification from entry into the Contest and immediate removal of the offending video.  Sponsor reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to enter the Contest.  If you have any questions about these Official Rules or the Contest, please e-mail them to VideoContest@patheos.com or send written questions to the address listed below, Attn: Patheos "Faith On Campus" Video Contest Questions.

ABOUT THE CONTEST

Patheos invites you to submit a video entry about your faith. Videos must fall into one of these three categories:
"Why I Am A _______ " (Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist, etc.)
"How I Live My Faith On Campus"
"Rituals & Practices Of My Faith."

PRIZE

The Grand Prize winner will receive a $2,500 prize while the finalist in each of the categories receives a $1,000 prize. There is also an audience favorite that is awarded to the video entry that gets the most votes from the public.

JUDGES

A panel of guest judges from the media and different faiths will select the Grand Prize Winner. Any person can vote for on their favorite entries to determine finalists. The 20 entries to receive the highest number of votes enter the final round.
