I think I've figured this out. There are four of us who have "Moderator" status, but we can only deal with stuff on a thread-by-thread basis. Daniel has "Administrator" status, and according to the bbpress user guides, that means he should be able to change a user's status from "member" to "blocked". So what we need is for Dan to either do the moderating, or to make the rest of us admins and cut our workload.

Over to you, Dan.

I fucking hate the forum architecture here. Do you know that there isn't even a way for me to program the filter with keywords? And I can't just ban the name/IP of the bot that's posting all this shit? Blog side, not a problem. Add "viagra" to the pre-moderation triggers, job done. Forum side? Nothing. Nada. Zip. Just rage.

you hit the nail right on the head. that's exactly what it was.
i was a freshman in high school. i had more stress than i could deal with, and i was barely happy. music made me happy and then there were these kids that were loving life, loving god, etc. and it was all too easy to fall into that group just to fit in.

Haha yeah I know what you mean. It's complete brainwash. All it takes is a lonely kid who wants to fit in somewhere, and sees a bunch of so called Christians having a good time at a concert. When your growing up, it feels good to be apart of a group. To be able to say "I am a _______" gives you some form of identity and makes you feel like your growing.

Though I'm pretty sure i was more upset when I found out that Santa didn't exist than when I found out that there was no God. Shit, I didn't want to bite the hand that feeds. All the man upstairs did for me was make me scared of lightning bolts for sneaking a peek at a dirty mag.

i actually listen to your band.
but i know where you're coming from.
i was a die hard christian because of a local band
and that lasted all of a year...and then i was really doubtful...
and i just recently realized that i wasn't a doubtful christian or agnostic...i was atheist.
interesting how things can changed so quickly.

Hi guys,

I've been perusing this blog for quite sometime, and thought it finally necessary to "check in" and to start off giving a piece of my story. You don't know how much this blog has helped me sort things out in my head over the past year or so. My name is Lee Duck and I'm currently 22 years old.

To start things off, I was raised Christian in the Episcopalian faith by my father in my hometown of Fort Worth, TX. My mother was Catholic, but it was never really talked about in the household. Even my father didnt really talk about it much to me. Looking back, i really think my dad enjoyed the social atmosphere more than the spiritual side of things. Growing up, i was put through the usual programs such as youth group, which instilled a pretty thick barrier of religious thought process in me, though i still had my doubts. Going into High School, my father had triple bypass surgery and recovered beautifully. But his health didnt get better, and with more tests he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was an avid smoker but quit several years later. It was not long until he slowly turned into nothing but painkillers and oxygen tanks. He passed away, and the funeral was the same day as Freshman orientation (go figure). With my one ride to church gone and me feeling a bit on the down side, I started learning guitar and began even holding sing and praise sessions at lunch at our high school. Around that time, a buddy and I started a band called Sky Eats Airplane, which I was quick to add my christian themes through lyrics on our very first album. To make a long story short, a year later I was thrown head first into record deals and life on the road. From touring over the years, i saw pain and suffering in the world we live in, either by talking to fans, seeing it first hand, or by reading the latest books by Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris (which brings another question... why arent there more great present-day atheist writers than just them?), and thus I became 100% sure there was no god. I have even approached a few openly christian bands we have toured with (the kind that gets free fans out of the christian kids just because they are "christian") and questioned their beliefs. I am usually baffled to hear either sheer ignorance or, sometimes, innocence that is curious of what the other side of the argument is, even if they write against it through their songs! Going into our 3rd album now, I still get messages from kids asking what certain [religious] songs meant from our first album, and I feel a deep regret that I probably have converted people to Christianity through those few songs that I was gullible enough to write. I want to be a spokesman of atheism and humanitarianism, because I really do believe that all religions pollute the mind and cause too much destruction in the world to go unnoticed to the majority of people out there. I feel that talking on these boards will help me build my arguments better.

Sorry for the long-winded novel. Anyways, feel free to check out my band. It's most likely not your cup-o-tea, but we like to call it Electronica infused Metal.

http://www.myspace.com/skyeatsairplane

I hope to talk to everyone soon!
-Lee
