That's an awesome plan for going out and having a good time, FO. You don't need to prepare, or invite anyone, or even buy all of your own drinks! Smart thinking!
SHINY HAPPY THREAD!

I'm once again comprehensively hooked on the cardboard crack known as Magic: The Gathering. Kicking myself a little bit for selling my old collection of 3000+ cards a couple of years back, but really enjoying building decks again with new cards.
Yes. I am a nerd.

Don't worry custador, I'm hooked to it since i was 12. And I notice that I'm starting to get money back from it :)

Congrats, FO! Sounds like the beginnings of a new business for you. :)

I've been extremely tempted to get back into the cardboard crack again, Custy. I'm actually watching the pro tour right now...

Thanks guys!
Besides, it's almost a week that my mood is (I am almost scared to say that) solid! oOLOL, Custy & JonJon, I just cannot imagine you guys playing Magic. oO

My original collection ran from 4th Edition to Urza's Saga, but I didn't play in over a decade, so I sold my cards. I'm having a lot of fun looking over newer cards I've bought now, though. I'm up to 650 already :-p

Admitting that you have a problem is the first step to recovery. Me, I collect RPG stuff, but I can quit any time I want.

I got a 2220 on the SAT. Caltech, here I come! Well, probably not, that place has an admission rate of 7%. Roulette has better odds. I'm too happy to let that get in my way though. Hyped up delusions, here I come!
Also, 2 of my favourite franchises, namely Max Payne and Ghost Recon, have new installments out and the reviews are great. I'm going to get them as soon as my CIE exams end.P.S.: Anybody know where Ty is?

Ty posts on G+ occasionally, but his second book is about to be launched so I guess he's kind of busy.

Spent the day on Teignmouth (pron. "Tin-Muff") beach catching rays, had a Devonshire clotted-cream tea, and now I'm sipping a cold beer at home. Life is good :-)

Amazon (UK) just told me that they've sent me Ty's new book :-) Looking good for summer reading.
Posted 11 months ago # -
I'll have to order me one of those. Guess there's still time to reread the first one to refresh my memory before it arrives.
Posted 11 months ago # -
If everything goes well, it should be here before my birthday :P

Ty's new book arrived - YAY!
Blimey, it's ~ as big as the last one! Ty, please write shorter books. Of course, when I get towards the end, I'll wish you wrote longer ones. But seriously, it doesn't fit in any of my pockets :-( I guess I need bigger pockets.

It's been crazy, right, I spent a lot of years post-college moving so much and even when I chose to move back to Boston, I didn't really settle. Always waiting for something bad to happen and I would have to move again, so I didn't really get attached. Plus, they hate NY here and I am proud to come from NY State. I mean, as proud as one can be to be born and raised somewhere that happens to be pretty beautiful. So, I've been here for coming up on 7 whole years and decided to attach myself, and also to get out and do things even if I don't have someone to do them with. So, tonight, I'm going to my very first (major league) baseball game of my life. I think even the one minor league (Hudson Valley Renegades) game I ever went to was rained out and cut very short. I'm pretty excited. I don't really follow baseball, but I think it will be a fun time.

Len, you lucky European bustard. Amazon US won't release it until the 26th so my copy will not show up until the 29th so no spoilers.

The butler did it. In the conservatory, with a candlestick.

@Yoav: There'll be no spoilers from me for a long time. For books I like, my speed-reading approaches a snail's pace - I like to read and inwardly digest, to savour things multiple times. I plan to read the book on my ride to European Bike Week in September. Or possibly on a birthday cruise with my SO in August, if we have any time off from visiting all the gardens around the Baltics.

Gü chocolate ganache mini puddings.
That is all.

Mmmmmm.

Yep.
Yep.

I read that and the only word I saw (or needed to see) was "chocolate". Very good. Carry on.

Today I went in to a charity shop to buy a coffee table, and ended up buying a Sony STR DB1080 amplifier for my wedding music. They're discontinued now, but new they did cost about £200. I paid £20. While I was there, they put out a Nintendo Wii with balance board and game bundle on the shelf. Total retail value, about £180. What I paid: £50.
Did I mention how much I love charity shops?

You have a better class of charity shop than we do. They're called opportunity shops, or op shops, over here, and they only ever seem to contain old books that nobody would ever read (all the good books go to secondhand book shops), odd bits of crockery and glassware, and clothes that smell like your grandmother's wardrobe.

They're called thrift stores here in New England, and they run the range from absolute junk to very good deals.

One man's junk is another man's treasure.
