so this giant lump just appeared on the back of my head, just right of the base of my spine. didn't hit it on anything, certainly wasn't there when i washed my hair like three or more hours ago. i did rest my head on the edge of a couch while watching "the fantastic mr. fox" with some friends, but that's the only thing i can go on right now. should i hit up a doc?? it hasn't been hurting, but it does a little with pressure. i dunno, its really weird and random.

Yeah, a doctor would probably be a good idea. Maybe nothing, but the location says you can't be too sure.

As a general rule of thumb, anything to do with your spine - get it checked. It's probably just a boil or a cyst, but do go and make sure.

I'd love to be able to reassure you that it's because your education has reached the point where your brain has started to grow a new lobe, but alas, smart money is on it being a cyst. Boils don't usually appear that rapidly. As Elemenope and Custador said, the location makes it a very good idea to have it checked out. Don't wait.

check it out, having a lump near you neck is never a good thing

Zach, I do respect and appreciate you, but seriously WTF are you asking in an internet forum!?
Go get checked by a doc.Posted 1 year ago # -
what the others said

LOL @FO Dude, Custador's on here, I posted late at night when I was about to go to bed and noticed it, I just figured I could get a better informed opinion than from fellow students when I woke up in the morning.
Mainly I just wanted to know how urgent it was and if I could wait until Monday. Anyway, gotta go, this death-knot ain't checking itself out.

You don't have to go to the ER for a painless bump on ur head. Call the doc office in Monday.

@Zach:
Ahah, I was kinda gone myself when I wrote that. ^_^
Take it as a tease. =PPosted 1 year ago # -
The lump has already started causing him to double post. Who knows where it will end?!

I love that me, third year student nurse, gets special medical mentions instead of Noelle - An actual doctor :-p I'm good Zach, and I thank you for your confidence, but srsly, this one is for the medics. Go forth and doctorfy.

Double-posting is a serious sign. Could be a brain tumor.
I'm sure he's just more comfortable with you, Custy. You've known each other longer. You're welcome to field all medical questions. I would recommend a less public place for asking though.

Hahaha, well, I forgot Noelle was a doctor. But it's all good, they said it was a hair follicle infection and put me on antibiotics. They did mention I might be more likely to double post until it disappears, but I doubt it.

LOL.

Zach, at least your impending follicle related death has made you very funny.

Ahaha, this thread is tremendous.
Also, Noelle, I had no idea you are a doctor. (And American!) All my (American) medical questions are directed at you from now on!
Custador can go eat beans and toast.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I can't. Too carb heavy.
Posted 1 year ago # -
@JonJon: yeah, I'd do well to keep all those un-American medical questions for yourself, you damm' Commie!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Custy's testing the mostly-protein diet to see if the rules of biochemistry are sound. Seems to be working. So, um, beans with no toast?
@JonJon: we are FB friends. You do have permission to view my info page. I am neither republican nor democrat, so my American-ness may be in doubt during election years, pre-election years, and on days of public mourning.
@FO: I'm curious, what would a commie medical question be?

Hehe, but I rarely facebook stalk. I don't attempt to squeeze my politics into Republican or Democrat boxes either.

Even with no toast, 100 grams of dried beans packs 60 grams of carbohydrates. Subtract the 25 grams that are fiber, and you still have 35 grams of digestible carbs.

@Noelle: the un-American ones, obviously! Duh.

Christians are required to be Republicans. Don't you know anything?
