Hello, everyone! I figured I'd introduce myself. I asked for advice on a different part of the forum and everyone was so helpful, I thought I'd hang out a little and learn some things.
I'm working on Literature major with a Humanities minor. I just transferred universities, and am experiencing a bit a culture shock. My previous university was notoriously secular. I've been an atheist my whole life, as have most of my friends and family. My current university is a lot more Christian than anywhere I've been before. The way I got to this site was actually through a post about a sign someone had hung in the main oval, about how evolution leads to rape.
The problem I am having is I've never even thought about religion much. I found it interesting when it popped up in a book I was reading, but I put it in the same category as Bullfinch's Mythology or Arabian Nights or whatever. So I find myself disagreeing, but I have a hard time articulating why. I'm planning on watching the forums and hopefully sharpening my arguments beyond "But, dude, that doesn't ... that doesn't make any sense, dude".
I've been in a peaceful atheist bubble these last twenty-something years. Time to ratchet up my debating skills, I guess.
