Apparently middle America got hammered by tonadoes this week because people there didn't pray hard enough. I can't figure out why god so often sends natural disasters to the most religious parts of my country.

Because they're the places that will recognize and appreciate the divine gesture. It's totally wasted on the rest of us, who chalk it up to impersonal stochastic processes in the atmosphere.
So why didn't that ignorant jackass tell us where it IS safe to live. Where does he live? Virginia Beach, VA. that, according to the USGS, practically sits right on top of a fault line.
And, a quick search shows there are tornadoes in Virginia Beach, too. This was just last year.
What about hurricanes? Give me a break.
Here’s a tidbit:
