I think it's a great idea.
Poe's law? If not, people can feel free to be suicidally stupid, except they'd probably manage to kill their children (whose idea it emphatically wasn't), not to mention any other poor sap on the road that day.
I'm guessing it's a Poe, but I would be extremely surprised if a handful of people didn't take it seriously enough to try it.
It is a Poe, a pretty obvious one. Why I think it's great is that people won't actually do it. You could even ask them why. And if they tragically do do it, and kill themselves or endanger or kill their children, we can, and I'm not laughing on the inside, point to a really great example of what's wrong with a little harmless religion. And if anyone still believes in Jesus after that and agrees those people are harmful, ask them why Jesus didn't take the wheel literally, and ask them why they didn't participate. I think nearly 100% of Christians aren't stupid enough to do this, just like most people are positive a woman who heard the voice of god who told her to murder her children didn't really hear god talking to her.
And sure, if you take your hand off the wheel for a couple seconds, the natural reaction is to grab it and right your car as soon as it starts to veer, especially if you have children in the car with you.
Yeah posted already elsewhere in the forum, but as you can see we Italians are precursors in everything:
I believe the appropriate phrase is, "Evolution in action."
I wouldn't mind if people were in a hurry to take themselves out of the gene pool like this, but the problem is that they run a high risk of taking out more fit members of the population along with them.
@Ursa: "Group selection, in action."
The whole group that cannot properly educate its members will suffer.
Anyway, it's a Poe, but there are True Believers that go there and cite the Bible on "you will not test thy Lord" or such.
cite the Bible on "you will not test thy Lord" or such.
Is that what keeps these people from doing stupidly dangerous things (most of the time), or is that just a lucky side-effect of forbidding any means to discover that god isn't real?
