BTW Ty, I am not one to look up various alien conspiracy sites, in fact, I'm not a fan of alien "conspiracy". I'd rather dig up archaeological and cultural facts.

I've looked up Sirius and Orion, you're right. Also right in the fact that brighter stars are not usually older. Dim stars may be dying dwarf stars or stars that the light still reaches us from.

That still doesn't explain how primitive Hopi in Africa astronomically impossibly knew all of this and had passed it down since ancient times. The same goes for the Egyptians and their astronomical knowledge. The Hopi, as well as the Egyptians, and many other cultures; all describe "gods" descending from the sky in an vehicle whether it be one description or another. And this paragraph is, so true.

I mixed something up, the Hopi tribe stated to cultural experts that they knew of six constellations which contained life.

Think about when Spain invaded South America...
The tribes took their shiny possessions and armor for Spaniards being of the natives gods.

I am currently taking the 2nd College Algebra class before I move on to programming. I am good at English, I can handle the Game Design, next is Game Programming. Should be only six months after programming and scripting classes before I graduate. Looking forward to a promotion in between then.

I already knew that about stars, I did take science back in high school lol.

Look up various global cultures gods, and where they began...

You will often find the stated above.

I have copies of the History Channel "Ancient Astronaut" installments.

I had been researching archaeological facts to find similarities in cultures before I even watched that show, so don't underestimate anyone.

The only thing I stated in my last post that is not fact, is the Hopi tribes entirely real belief of six life containing stars or clusters colonized by their "gods". Even then, the Hopi belief is fact, just not the colonized stars are known to be true in science.

Did you look it up first time and just get it plain wrong or did you just swallow it is a fact from somewhere else and regurgitate it here? Neither of these scenarios shows you in a particualr good light as a reliable source of knowledge for the subject you are posting about.

Speaking as a history professional, I have to say that the History Channel is considered a joke by most of my colleagues. It's all sensationalism and no substance or rigor.

When you say algebra, do you mean parabolas, and imaginary numbers, a systems of linear equations? I ask because I'm currently taking Algebra 1, which isn't the typical "algebra" that people refer to; its full title is "abstract algebra" and entails theories of groups, rings, and fields, all aspects of abstract number theory. It is my experience that Algebra can refer to typical algebra, abstract algebra, or, less commonly, linear algebra. If you are taking Algebra 2, with respect to abstract algebra, then I'm thoroughly impressed, not many people can handle such mathematics (I certainly know that I wont be taking the follow up courses in this branch).

"Hopi in Africa"

The Hopi are a Native American tribe, not African. But as for Egyptians and the Hopi having astronomical knowledge, they did have astronomers (although, this formality is more for the Egyptians, I do not know how formally the Hopi looked at the night sky). Much of navigation in the ancient world depended upon stars, especially when at sea, and the Egyptians were quite decent astronomers, and were the intellectual authority until Greece's culture took off. At my university, one of our prof. in the astronomy department has been able to identify Sirius B, albeit not that regularly and it was when he was of much younger age. As for the knowledge being passed down, I don't see any reason why that would be a problem, the Homeric Poems were passed down for centuries before being written, all through memorization.

It still seems reasonable that our ancestors would try to explain how the gods did things by using methods that we understood. We certainly understood what a boat was and that it is a ship used for travel. In all cases, with the exception of animists and religions that worshiped the sun and the moon, gods had human forms; but even with the exceptions, the gods had forms that we could associated with and understand. It still seems reasonable that we would do this for how they went about doing things. After all, the Norse pantheon used swords, axes, and battle hammers, which the people of the time knew well; why didn't the gods use tanks, machine guns, nuclear weapons or even lasers, which are far more advanced and sophisticated (which a god would know of)?

The Aztecs already had the idea of human like gods, and advanced technology can seem like magic when you don't understand how it works. I can see how the same outcome would happen if early man was met by extra terrestrial beings, but I don't see how it is proof that it did in fact happen.

I have been researching this issue on-again & off-again since probably the mid-90s. However, I am not sure that Sirius is the Star that gets identified as being the home star of the theoretical Annanaki. As we all know, the Ancients were very deep into Astrology. Some argue that "Stargate" is actually based off of an Astrological tool called "Solomon's Key"

Orion and Sirius are merely used as an "arrow" which allow tracking of a star that moves in the night-sky.

I have a problem with the fact that Sirius and the stars of Orion (and, indeed, all stars in the sky) are changing their positions constantly as they orbit the center of mass of the galaxy. This means that they have not always pointed at, nor will they always point at, HD 283271. Furthermore, Wayne Hershel is trying to match the current positions of the stars of the Pleiades with surface features in the Cydonia region of Mars, and arrives at nothing more than the conclusion that the current positions of the Pleiades point at where HD 283271 happened to be 17,000 years ago- IF you draw lines in the right direction. I see no compelling evidence of alien messages here.

Going back to an earlier statement made by Masa_Lee, a similar argument can be made for the air shafts in the Great Pyramid lining up with any current constellation. When the Pyramid was built, the stars that they point at today were not in that part of the sky, nor were they in the same relative alignment to each other. The air shafts would not have pointed at them at the time of construction.

There are a lot of star patterns in the night sky. If you take any random pattern of half a dozen dots, the chances are very good that it will appear to match closely with one grouping of stars or another. One must also ask the question, how old are the Cydonian features on Mars, and if they are artificial, why would the builders align them to match with a star pattern that did not exist at the time they were built and would not exist for many thousands, if not millions, of years?

In the paintings shown in the "Ancient Astronauts Series", what I clearly see is the Unknown Crafts that we see in our airspace today. This stuff has been recorded since the beginning of man, and those whom would go out of their way to deny or debunk AA Theory or any UFO, ET sighting, Abduction, etc, are people trapped in their own mind whose only sense of reality being whatever the hell is in front of them. That's pretty damn sad.

This advanced knowledge that the ancients knew, had to come from somewhere, not just the original text book crap you read that says, "They were expert astronomers". Star patterns were perfectly mapped by structures that were built by ancient man, and not only that, built PERFECTLY. More than what we could do today. Oh, but it's all too hard to believe or to fit in the small minds of the people that deny today.

To be honest with everybody here, I cannot wait for the day to come where disclosure is announced. I will enjoy every day and minute of shock and awe from every religious fanatic around the world, just as everything they believed in crumbles beneath them and laugh as even the top religious leaders of the world question their own existence. I'll be one of the many people that will enjoy getting in the face of those who call us crazy and whom are in complete denial, and tell them every morning that passes, "How is the new era settling in for you? Living a lie, always in denial. How does it feel now that you are the crazy one? I'm going to drive you mad just like those whom were ridiculed to the point where they had their life ruined." And this, is a Promise that I will keep till the day I die, and my soul travels to another body to be reborn. That will be the day when I can finally rest in peace with the world.

You know who you are. Enough said.

Why does this myth of "perfect ancient engineering" persist? There is no evidence to support your statement that ancient structures were built perfectly. The Great Pyramid at Giza, to take just one example, while very well constructed, is below the level of precision achievable by today's engineering and construction techniques. The base is not perfectly aligned, nor is it perfectly square, among other flaws in its construction. If it was built using the techniques of some advanced civilization, then that advanced civilization didn't know as much as modern engineers know about building things. Don't you find this a little odd? After all, we are talking about a civilization that has supposedly achieved star travel. Surely they'd be able to cut and pile stones with more precision that we can.

I wouldn't call you crazy for suspecting that there are extraterrestrial intelligences sharing the galaxy with us. It is a reasonable hypothesis, and I will be in no way surprised if this is proven to be true. In fact, I'd be delighted to have confirmation that we are not alone. But without evidence, it is not reasonable to assert that extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the past or are visiting us now.

Well, the average person can study architecture, engineering, mathematics, history, et cetera, and come to a logical conclusion based on details and facts that have been well measured to high accuracy; or they can look at the actual object, say "It's huge! It looks perfect! We didn't make stuff that big until recently, therefore they must have had help!" One route will always end in a result that is only as accurate as the facts you have researched with much effort, the other takes a glance.

If the Great Pyramids of Giza were perfect, then the ratio of slant to base would be Phi. That would be one hell of an accomplishment considering phi is the most irrational number (Pi would be easier to approximate). This simply is not the case, the Pyramids only approximate Phi, accurate to only two decimal places. ( (280/220)^2 = 1.6198 ~ Phi= 1.6180339. 280 is the height, 220 being the semi-base, units are royal cubits).

My main point is the fact that the sides of the base aren't all the same length. The longest side is the south side (756.08 feet) and the shortest one is the north side (755.43 feet).

That's a difference of 7.8 inches, and a surveying/construction error of about 1 part in 1000- considerably sloppier than the modern standard of better than 1 part in 10,000. It follows from the unequal sides that the angles at the corners are not exactly 90 degrees- and actual measurements confirm that they're off by about a three and a half minutes of arc.

The orientation of the sides of the base are measurably off from the geographic cardinal points by one and a half to over five minutes of arc.

The average gap between the stones is 1/50 inch- half the thickness of a dime, i.e., not as good as we can do today.

Very good construction? Yes. As good as humanly possible? Maybe for the time, but not even close to today's standards, and well below what one would expect from a more advanced civilization than ours. Perfect? Demonstrably not.

Bottom line: whoever built the Great Pyramid, their construction techniques were not as good as the ones humans routinely employ today. No one can plausibly argue otherwise from the data.

I'd say the quality of construction argues against it being built by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization that has figured out how to build a starship. If you can successfully perform the astonishingly difficult feat of navigating between the stars, surely you can draw a precise square or align a wall better with true north, no?

I think it's very likely that ET is out there, but that is just a guess based on some plausible (but fast and loose) probability-twiddling. There is still no evidence that extraterrestrials have ever paid us a visit. In all honesty, I wish there were evidence. An artifact. A SETI signal. A telescopic observation of the IR radiation from a Dyson sphere. It would be very exciting to know for sure that we're not the only intelligent species in the galaxy.

@Paul: I realized that. Mostly the numbers were FailingCivilization, as I do not think he has bothered to check such mundane things as whether the data actually support his theory (it's easier to be enthusiastic than to do the actual footwork). Thanks for the excuse to do a data dump. ;)

One would expect Phi's approximation to be poor, given the sloppy tolerances of the components used to represent it.

Do we even have evidence that the Egyptians wanted to represent Phi, or at least the aesthetic concept of it? I believe the Greeks did, and were quite taken with even the mathematical beauty, but I'm not sure if the Egyptians had ventured down that mathematical road. It was my understanding that the Egyptians just built the pyramids, and they happened upon the ratio as we perceive it as being naturally beautiful.

I think the Golden Ratio emerges inevitably from the Great Pyramid because of its chosen geometry, although that may have been accidental and not the conscious intent of the builders. Pi is also encoded into it (as an unavoidable consequence of being constructed in a locally Euclidean geometry). But the Egyptians of Khufu's time clearly knew about Pi, if not Phi. I'll have to do some more digging to see if the ancient Egyptians ever developed the concept of Phi independently.

Because of it's frequent appearance in geometry, Pi is almost cliche. The way I see it, identifying occurrences of Pi is for those newly enthralled in geometry, spotting Phi are for those who like some aesthetically pleasing mathematical insight, while e is reserved for those looking for an active sport.

Egyptians and Phi, you've just given me something to add to my summer to do list.

We invoked the mighty power of math and scared off FallingCivilization, who is apparently a pure theoretician who doesn't like to have any truck with (ugh) actual data. It's like getting a bug on the windshield between you and your beautiful vision.

Ironically, I know some mathematicians who fit that description too. Real mathematicians don't sully themselves playing with mere numbers.

Shoot, I missed it. I was waiting to be enlightened as to how "off by 7.8 inches at the base" = "perfect", and why that proves that the government is hiding the knowledge of extraterrestrials from us. You know, the same government that has a problem hiding knowledge of extramarital affairs from us?

I hope I live long enough for SETI to succeed. It would be totally cool to have real confirmation of extraterrestrial civilization.

Don't worry. There wasn't really anything about math in it. A couple of somewhat logical sentences about how the government lies about some things, and then a rather sloppy segue into the government is hiding evidence of aliens. And then something about wanting to fight in an upcoming war, where he would be pitted against christian fundamentalists but which would somehow also involve aliens. But I couldn't tell if he was saying he was going to be fighting against the aliens or for them. But yeah, no math stuff if that's what you are worried about.

What I find puzzling is people believe in the Bible, and there is no more evidence to show the Bible is more true than the ancient astronaut theory.
Actually there is more physical evidence to the AAT. Also there are many civilizations around the world who hold true for thousands of years that there were beings from the stars who came here.
Does it mean that ancients of this world were merely science fiction writers? Also if it were just stories, fables if you will then why write in stone? You know they did have paper back then, better paper than we have today.
I find it hard to believe that they would lie about other beings coming to our planet, what purpose would it serve for them to make up such events and to go to such great lengths to portray what they saw and preserve what they saw if it were not true.
If you compare the Bible to ancient writings way before the Bible existed they have allot of things that are correlated, just changed to favor their belief.

People tend to dismiss artifacts that go against what they have known. So it does not surprise me that people will not believe that other beings have been to this planet in the past or even in the present.
Most people are closed minded, they will not look at anything that will discredit their beliefs.
They walk tru life with blinders on till they walk off a cliff not knowing there is a road beside them that could lead them away from the fall.

If you believe we Humans on this planet are the only beings in existence in the heavens above then you cannot count.
The mathematical probability of other lifeforms existing is a solid yes.
I don't see what is so hard to believe that aliens have been here before?
Why do people think this way? Someone tell me why someone cannot believe that there has never been or is any other life besides us?
Is it because they are not here right now? (or are they) Is it because if it were true that it would blow your religion away?
What could it be?

Take the blinders off,you don't have to dismiss facts just because you don't want to believe.
Is it because of a religious view that you cannot believe that we were visited before by other beings?
Or are you so egotistical that it is impossible for you to think we were visited before?
I am not trying to be an ahole I seriously want to know. Why? so I can find the missing link.
