   I know I've run into a couple of skeptical NFL fans around here. Don't worry too much about the current rules setup, once we have a viable league I'll give any rule/scoring changes an open mind.

   I love football (Go Panthers!!!), but I'm not fantasy sports guy. You need an emotional distance from the game to do well in fantasy sports, and I am way to passionate about teams/players.

   NFL, MLS, NASCAR atheist fan here... Don't do fantasy too much, though, I find it hard to stay motivated after the first half of the season... even if I'm doing well.

   Yeah, I'd try to fantasy draft the entire Panther's team, and then get my ass handed to me by the guys who only take the best players with no regard to their current teams.

   When I saw you were a Panthers fan I wanted to give you some insight on Ron Meeks, but unfortunately I don't really have any. He didn't seem to do anything that a fan could notice. It was Dungy's scheme and their wasn't really much playcalling since the Colts D under Dungy had about 2 schemes for the back 7 and just mixed up the line stunts (Dungy was big on execution, rather than deception).

   On the other hand the track record of Dungy assistants is excellent. Mike Tomlin, Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier (MIN DC/Assistant HC, getting tons of HC interviews).

   Meh. I love love love the NFL, I follow the season very closely every year, I could happily watch any game between any two teams, but for some reason I'm just not interested in fantasy football. I've never played it before.

    Ron Meeks?

    I am a die-hard Colts fan, so let me help you out.

    When Meeks was the coordinator, the Colts basically tried to prevent long pass plays and also gave up a ton of shorter pass plays. We never really had the personnel to stop the run very well, except in the '06 playoff run when we had Booger McFarland and most of the other players were healthy.

    I'm not sure about the individual players that the Panthers have, but I'm assuming that Meeks will run a lot of Cover-2, since that is Dungy's preferred system. Here's hoping for you that the Panthers can stop the run as well as they can run.

    Fantasy football for me is either Orcs with laser guns vs. Trolls with Light Sabers, or Me vs. The Swedish Bikini Team on a field made of cotton candy.

    You sports guys' definition of "Fantasy" is WEAK.

    I just realized that all the sports I follow are American in origin. Interesting.
