Even when the Catholics try to fix things, they just keep shoving their foot down their throat until it comes out their ass.
Way to go, Catholics!

Seriously: When are they going to hire a goddam PR company?!
It's particularly ironic because if women had more power in the Catholic hierarchy it is likely that the child sexual abuse would have been less tolerated and almost certainly not covered up to the extent that it was.
Women would completely revamp the catholic church and thats what scares them shitless. To paraphrase George Carlin, women would not fuck things up like males do.
Yep. They would fuck things up in entirely new and interesting ways.
I like women.
To be fair to the Catholic Church it hasn't said that it finds both of them equally repugnant, it's said that both of them are offences. Think of it like this, someone would be sacked at work for turning up drunk or for turning up drunk and then buggering their boss in the middle of the office but no one would claim that they were the same offence.
p.s. I can also see it being quiet possibly that the Catholic Church we put the two issues on equal moral ground.
They are actually both offenses of the same level. It's called delicta gravior. It's like saying they are both class 2 felonies. Crimes considered to be worthy of equal punishment.
They are actually both offenses of the same level. ... Crimes considered to be worthy of equal punishment.
Oh cool, so if women are ordained then nothing bad will happen? This is great news!
Like I said, these guys can't win for losing.
@Ty
"Crimes considered to be worthy of equal punishment."
... within the limits of the punishment that the Catholic Church can dole out (does this mean they will go to hell?).
I think the real problem is that they didn't make it manadatory to report abuse cases to the police and the whole women being ordained etc. is somewhat of a red herring. Hell, if I was in PR I might even thought to throw that out as a bone to stop people speaking about the real problem!
