Over the last few days I saw several republicans go on the TV machine and suggesting that if the estate tax break (AKA the death tax) is not extended then people are going to consider trying to make sure grandma dies before midnight on December 31st. Am I the only one who find that line of reasoning disturbing.
Here's an example at 2:45 rep. King raise the point without even being asked.
Republicans show how much they value life.

The ONLY thing stopping us from wholesale slaughter of our elderly folks is that tax break! Praise be to god, and his holy messenger GWB for protecting gramma from our bloodlust!

Weirdly enough I'm sure that someone has looked into the opposite effect of people prolonging their own life for financial reasons (no can't remember what it was for) and it showed that there did seem to be a link i.e. the old myth about people hanging on before they die has some truth in it.
I really going to have to look up where I found this out!
