Adjusting our life to accommodate these changes can be <\/span>stormy, <\/span>challenging, uncomfortable, and at times downright painful, but the lessons learned from the choices are a big part of our soul\u2019s journey.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/accessyourinnerguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1474580492_image1.jpeg\")
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nDr. Terry Gordon\u00a0<\/span>knows a thing or two about storm<\/span>s because he has survived a few<\/span> in his lifetime. <\/span>Emotional tornadoes<\/span> knocked him over but could not keep him down. Terry, as he prefers to be called, <\/span>is <\/span>a Hay House author who penned, <\/span>\u201cNo Storm Lasts <\/span>Forever<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> t<\/span>he forward <\/span>of which is <\/span>written by <\/span>the late great <\/span>Dr. Wayne Dyer<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nOne of <\/span>Dr. Terry Gordon\u2019s<\/span> missions in life has been saving the lives of our most precious resource, our children. After the tragic cardiac death of Josh Miller, a 15 year old football player, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\nTerry helped to raise funds to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in every junior and high school in his community. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\nFor his efforts, the American Heart Association named him the National Physician of the Year 2002.<\/span> He is a <\/span>retired Invasive Cardiologist, Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
What is a<\/span>n AED and what do they do?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nAn AED is an Automated External Defibril<\/span>lator. It<\/span> restarts the heart once it has stopped beating. Heart attacks are not only<\/span> for the <\/span>elderly.<\/span>They<\/span> happen to children and young adults, too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nIn the past few years, there have been more and more <\/span>o<\/span>ccurrences of <\/span>students getting hit<\/a> in the chest during sporting events and going into cardiac arrest. Although accidents do happen during sports <\/span>a <\/span>heart attack can be prevented if an AED is <\/span>present and within reach at the event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nHad an AED been present at the time of Josh Miller\u2019s football accident he might still be alive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nJosh Miller\u2019s accident hit so close to home for Dr. Terry Gordon that he and his family raised enough money to place an AED in every school and every police car in his hometown.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nAEDs are extremely<\/span> neces<\/span>sary in police vehicles because police<\/span> are <\/span>usually <\/span>the first <\/span>people <\/span>to reach an emergency scene.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u201cThese AED devices in cop cars have already saved several lives, young and old.\u201d Terry is proud to announce. <\/span>However, Dr. Terry Gordon\u2019s intentions <\/span>are <\/span>bigger than local. Cardiology was his profession but his genuine heart, his love, and the incredible strength my dad possesses; evident each time there\u2019s a storm that <\/span>comes<\/span> his way and each time he takes the lessons he\u2019s learned through his experience. He has taught me the most valuable lessons in my life, will always remain my hero, and will be the person I strive to be.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nAs a physician who has dealt with life and death on a daily basis, Terry understands that life is precious and can change in an instant. He and his family experienced first-hand such a dramatic shift when his son Tyler was involved in an automobile accident, sustaining a severe spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed.<\/span><\/p>\nWhen asked about his feelings concerning such tragedies in life Dr. Terry Gordon says, \u201cI learned that when adversity comes our way, it is how we respond to the difficulty that determines who we become. Life experiences become calamities only if we make the conscious decision to make tragedies out of them. Rather than lamenting so-called adversities, we can choose to be grateful for them. We can embrace them and accept them as gifts from the Divine. Our mission or <\/span>life purpose<\/span> is much like kittens and puppies. They often choose us. Adjusting our life to accommodate these changes can be <\/span>stormy, <\/span>challenging, uncomfortable, and at times downright painful, but the lessons learned from the choices are a big part of our soul\u2019s journey.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Dr. Terry Gordon\u00a0<\/span>knows a thing or two about storm<\/span>s because he has survived a few<\/span> in his lifetime. <\/span>Emotional tornadoes<\/span> knocked him over but could not keep him down. Terry, as he prefers to be called, <\/span>is <\/span>a Hay House author who penned, <\/span>\u201cNo Storm Lasts <\/span>Forever<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> t<\/span>he forward <\/span>of which is <\/span>written by <\/span>the late great <\/span>Dr. Wayne Dyer<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n One of <\/span>Dr. Terry Gordon\u2019s<\/span> missions in life has been saving the lives of our most precious resource, our children. After the tragic cardiac death of Josh Miller, a 15 year old football player, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Terry helped to raise funds to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in every junior and high school in his community. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For his efforts, the American Heart Association named him the National Physician of the Year 2002.<\/span> He is a <\/span>retired Invasive Cardiologist, Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n What is a<\/span>n AED and what do they do?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n An AED is an Automated External Defibril<\/span>lator. It<\/span> restarts the heart once it has stopped beating. Heart attacks are not only<\/span> for the <\/span>elderly.<\/span>They<\/span> happen to children and young adults, too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In the past few years, there have been more and more <\/span>o<\/span>ccurrences of <\/span>students getting hit<\/a> in the chest during sporting events and going into cardiac arrest. Although accidents do happen during sports <\/span>a <\/span>heart attack can be prevented if an AED is <\/span>present and within reach at the event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Had an AED been present at the time of Josh Miller\u2019s football accident he might still be alive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Josh Miller\u2019s accident hit so close to home for Dr. Terry Gordon that he and his family raised enough money to place an AED in every school and every police car in his hometown.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n AEDs are extremely<\/span> neces<\/span>sary in police vehicles because police<\/span> are <\/span>usually <\/span>the first <\/span>people <\/span>to reach an emergency scene.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThese AED devices in cop cars have already saved several lives, young and old.\u201d Terry is proud to announce. <\/span>However, Dr. Terry Gordon\u2019s intentions <\/span>are <\/span>bigger than local. Mattie-Rose<\/span> is an experienced educator in grades Kindergarten thr<\/span>ough 12, so she has been<\/span> involved in her father\u2019s mission to save the lives of students. <\/span>As<\/span> an Executive Bu<\/span>sin<\/span>ess Administrative Assistant, Mattie-Rose <\/span>also <\/span>knows the business <\/span>side of<\/span> making<\/span> dreams<\/span> come<\/span> true. <\/span>Mattie-Rose Gordon writes,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u201cI have been blessed to have a father who has shown what it means to care and love for others so deeply. Cardiology was his profession but his genuine heart, his love, and the incredible strength my dad possesses; evident each time there\u2019s a storm that <\/span>comes<\/span> his way and each time he takes the lessons he\u2019s learned through his experience. He has taught me the most valuable lessons in my life, will always remain my hero, and will be the person I strive to be.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As a physician who has dealt with life and death on a daily basis, Terry understands that life is precious and can change in an instant. He and his family experienced first-hand such a dramatic shift when his son Tyler was involved in an automobile accident, sustaining a severe spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed.<\/span><\/p>\n When asked about his feelings concerning such tragedies in life Dr. Terry Gordon says, \u201cI learned that when adversity comes our way, it is how we respond to the difficulty that determines who we become. Life experiences become calamities only if we make the conscious decision to make tragedies out of them. Rather than lamenting so-called adversities, we can choose to be grateful for them. We can embrace them and accept them as gifts from the Divine.
