It was a disturbing scene. A black man’s car at K-State was vandalized with racist slurs near the campus. Dauntarius Williams, 21, reported what looked like a hate crime to the police. He told them that he was a K-State student who was leaving the school over this incident.
According to Kansas City News:
The N-word was written with yellow paint across the rear windshield of the car. Other racially offensive language — “White’s Only,” “Die,” and “Date your own kind,” was also painted on the windshield and side doors of the car.
Reports of the incident led African American students on the campus to call a meeting that evening to talk about possible racism near the K-State campus.
However, the police stopped investigating when the owner of the car admitted he’d done it himself.
“I would like to deeply apologize to the community,” he said, according to the police. “The whole situation got out of hand when it shouldn’t have even started. It was just a Halloween prank that got out of hand. I wish I could go back to that night but I can’t. I just want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for the pain and news I have brought you all.”
Police decided it wasn’t in the best interest of the community to file charges against the car owner, which caused outrage from former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke:
“The two law enforcement agencies concluded that despite having filed a false report, criminal charges against Williams would not be in the best interests of the citizens of Manhattan.” WHAT? This is what black privilege looks like.

He went on to say, “IDENTITY POLITICS causes this. It perpetuates a false feeling that everybody is entitled to VICTIM STATUS…except white males. This FRAUD demonstrates that true racism is so rare in America that fake stories have to be made up to keep the lie going.”
