On\u00a0September 2, 1987, CNN\u2019s Larry King interviewed Donald Trump about an ad Trump had taken out against the foreign policy of the George H.W. Bush administration.<\/p>\n
In a prescient introduction, King said that it might even be possible for Trump to go as far as the Presidency.<\/p>\n
Trump said that \u2014 though he\u2019s a Republican \u2014 he would not be running for office.<\/p>\n
Then, King asked Trump if he was going to travel to New Hampshire, at the request of Mike Dunbar who launched a \u201cDraft Trump\u201d campaign.\u00a0\u00a0(Apparently, Dunbar was inspired by what he\u2019d read about Trump\u2019s career\u00a0in the newspaper.)\u00a0 Also King asked him why he didn\u2019t make low income housing for people instead of just the high income residences.\u00a0 Then, he asked him \u201cWhat\u2019s the drive that keeps you building more and more.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a creative process that gives you something to do with your life,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n
By the way, Dunbar maintained his enthusiasm for Trump as a candidate all the way until the most recent election. According to Time magazine:<\/a><\/p>\n Nearly 30 years later, Trump is still the candidate Dunbar wants to elect president.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the surprising thing about him is he hasn\u2019t changed a lot. What I saw in him then was a brashness and a determination of purpose that was lacking in everyone else,\u201d Dunbar told TIME in an interview. \u201cHe\u2019s still the guy I met in 1987.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Trump also took calls on a variety of topics\u2026 One caller asked him if he wanted to run for Mayor of New York City.\u00a0 (He declined.)\u00a0 Interestingly,\u00a0his \u201cAmerica First\u201d attitude was evident even back then.<\/p>\n Watch the interview below:<\/p>\n
