The Village Church has released a video from Chandler filmed last Friday and shown in church yesterday. In it he speaks about what the future holds, and what we can all learn from this event.  Here is a sample: “I think most men are wooed and seduced into lives that don’t matter, concentrating on things that are temporary and frivolous and so one of the reasons why something like this is…good for all of us is we get that .... Read more

I am going to address a theme today that I haven’t spoken about very much in the entire history of my blog. It is not an easy subject to write about as I am aware that there are very strong emotions on display on both sides. The debate between atheistic evolution and any kind of belief in a creator God seems to have long since become almost too emotive to discuss. Among Christians, there is much argument about what our... Read more

A few weeks ago I downloaded Jim Belcher’s book Deep Church from christianaudio.com.  It was on a special offer at the time. I found myself compelled to keep listening. The book has a website, and you can also read an interview with the author. This book is an example of a “model” of the church. I don’t think there are enough similar books.  By the very nature of it, any  “model” book is going to be such that most readers... Read more

Its now twelve months since the Christian blogosphere was rocked to hear that one of its most loved members has bowel cancer.  Not an easy message to receive just before Christmas, or at any time.  It was even more lovely than usual then to spend some time with one of my favorite blogging partners the other day on iChat. Here is his latest news: The visit with the doctor on went about as expected. The tumors in the liver are... Read more

Today I conclude sharing my sermon notes on Joy. 7. Joy in Reunion—separation kills joy 2:28 I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. 29 So receive him in the Lord with all joy. Context is about death and being spared from death. At each reunion perhaps we should think—they could have died… Appreciate family more. Enjoy each other. “Rejoice in the wife of your... Read more

I wanted to share the most recent news from The Village about Matt Chandler in full here. Read their Facebook Page to respond to the post. Please continue to pray. Dear church, In the first chapter of Philippians, the Apostle Paul writes that whatever imprisonments, beatings and trials he may have suffered, they all “serve to advance the gospel” of Jesus Christ. We implore you to keep the gospel of Christ as the main focus as we walk with Matt... Read more
