The latest version of the Bible has been written in Australian slang in an attempt to get more people interested in the Good Book.

In Kel Richards\u2019 Aussie Bible, the Virgin Mary is \u2018a pretty special Sheila\u2019 who gets knocked up with the Big Boss\u2019s son.
\n
Instead of the traditional swaddling clothes and manger, the Shiela wraps the baby in a bunny rug and tucks him up in a feed trough in the back shed because the local pub is full to bursting.
\n
The light-hearted version was inspired by a teacher in England who translated the book into Cockney rhyming slang.
\n
Mr Richards said: \u2018It is written using the Australian vernacular and as if the events had actually happened in Australia.\u2019
\n
And replacing the original opening of \u2018in the beginning\u2026\u2019 Mr Richards starts his book with \u2018G\u2019day\u2019.
\n
He describes how the cocky leader Herod was \u2018as jumpy as a walaby on hot rocks\u2019 so he gathered together a bunch of smart blokes with \u2018more degrees than a thermometer\u2019.
