Every month publishers give away many free books. \u00a0Their goal is to create a buzz around their book leading to people talking to their friends about it, writing Amazon reviews, and blog posts. \u00a0As an example of how well it can sometimes work, think of the recent Rob Bell controversy<\/a> which helped propel his book to the top of best seller lists.<\/p>\n

The problem is that it is hard for publishers to get their free books into the hands of the right sort of people \u2013 enthusiastic and preferably influential people with the time to read them!\u00a0 Each book will of course appeal to different sorts of people.\u00a0 I have a high regard for many of my readers, and as a result I have found it very easy to persuade some publishers to give free books to YOU!<\/p>\n

There is no absolute requirement to review any of these free books.\u00a0 But, it will make it easier for me to get more free books for you next month if at least some of you write reviews on Amazon or elsewhere.\u00a0 If you win a book here and write a review, I will publish excerpts and a link to the full review here.\u00a0 Remember, as Bell showed us, reviews do not have to be positive to sell books, so tell us what you really think!<\/p>\n

These are the themes I explore in my books and in the articles I have written for Patheos since 2003. My writing draws on my scientific training as a doctor and psychiatrist, my work in the UK's National Health Service and the pharmaceutical industry, alongside more than twenty-five years as a member of a growing church where I served on the leadership team offering pastoral care. My perspective has also been shaped by chronic illness since 2017, when I developed life-threatening pneumonia that caused lasting damage to my body, triggered several further conditions, and uncovered a diagnosis of blood cancer. This was successfully treated, although doctors expect it to return in the future. Out of these experiences I founded Blood Cancer Uncensored, an online patient-led support community. Hope Reborn: How to Become a Christian and Live for Jesus These books bring together medical, psychological, social, and faith-based insights, advocating for a biopsychosocial\u2013spiritual model of wellbeing.
