\nOH wow. I don\u2019t really know where to begin\u2026<\/div>\n<\/div>\nI was so moved by this post. \u00a0I think you\u2019re right \u2013 at least in the Christian circle that I move in \u2013 we rarely speak of our experiences of God. \u00a0It is safe and easy to talk of our thoughts about God and teach others of His Word \u2013 sharing our relationship with God is more vulnerable. \u00a0It sounds emotive and emotional and open to question \u2013 unlike our apologetics and preaching which is intellectually robust. \u00a0What if people are not on the same page as us? What if they dismiss it as over-emotional imaginings?<\/div>\n<\/div>\nI love that you described the morning you just had. \u00a0I love the humility that comes from being swept away by the grace of God and experiencing the goodness of His presence and the power of His Spirit. \u00a0This post was full of that humility and wonder at meeting with God.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nLast year I had the longest time of not hearing God speak or feeling His presence. \u00a0I was resentful of those who claimed to hear God speak and looked on with cynicism. \u00a0In the (mainly conservative evangelical) circles that I move in, I challenged every Christian I knew to tell me of the last time God had spoken to them \u2013 not just in a \u2018general, this is what the BIble says\u2019 way, but in a \u2018God is speaking directly to my heart\u2019 way. \u00a0To my great surprise, almost all of them told me of a time recently that that had happened. In a way it was comforting \u2013 these people who rarely talked about their personal relationship with God did indeed commune with Him. \u00a0But in another way it was hard to hear \u2013 why did God not speak to me?<\/div>\n<\/div>\nIt was a long time and a lot of wrestling until I felt the presence of God again \u2013 on one amazing afternoon in the back garden. \u00a0I hold onto and treasure that memory.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nRecently I have been feeling again a growing distance in my relationship with God.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThis morning I read 12 testimonies of people in our church who have become Christians in the past two years. I found myself moved to tears, and was also struck by how many of them, (some very young) were able to testify to the presence of God and baptism of the Spirit as their real experience.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nSo it could be that, or it could just be coincidence \u2013 but for whatever reason, when I read your post today, and especially when I reached your challenge to pray for the Holy Spirit \u2013 I did. \u00a0And for some unknown reason, I found myself unexpectedly flooded with a sense of God\u2019s presence \u2013 and my eyes did a little flooding of their own.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThank you. \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
