Nor should anyone think they can simply treat them by Bible meditation alone. If you or someone you love is suicidal then you should treat it as a medical emergency and get the professional help and assessment you need<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For anyone who has lost someone to suicide I refer them to my previous post \u201cWill a Christian who commits suicide go to heaven?<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

To be quite honest, when someone becomes suicidal it may well not the right time to introduce them to these verses<\/strong>. But these verses are nonetheless part of God\u2019s antidote to these destructive thoughts. Get them into your mind now when your mind is well and who knows maybe even if you become mentally ill their effects may protect you. \u00a0When introduced tenderly and gently<\/a> someone who is recovering from a severe mental illness may find some of these helpful to them also. \u00a0Some of these verses warn us of the deadly results of depression, others provide promises we can cling to by faith, and others prayers we can pray for ourselves or on behalf of others.<\/p>\n

This illness does not lead to death<\/strong>. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it\u00a0(John 11:4).<\/p>\n

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death<\/strong>. (2 Corinthians 7:10).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself<\/strong>. \u00a0Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril<\/strong>, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. (2 Corinthians 1:8\u201310.)<\/p>\n

When the cares of my heart are many,<\/p>\n

your consolations cheer my soul.<\/p>\n

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy<\/strong>. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly<\/strong>. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.<\/p>\n

To you, O LORD, I cry,<\/p>\n

and to the Lord I plead for mercy:<\/p>\n
