Many assume we are tripartate \u2014 body, soul, and spirit. Others argue strongly that Scripture suggests we only have two parts \u2014 body and soul\/spirit. In today\u2019s quote from Spurgeon, he seems to suggest we have two parts before salvation and three parts after. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. Do you think he was right? Have you heard anyone else teach this? You can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.new.facebook.com\/topic.php?uid=25337326318&amp;topic=5766\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">discuss this over at this blog\u2019s Facebook group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spurgeon.org\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Charles Spurgeon\" hspace=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/298\/2008\/10\/Spurgeon-(Framed)-778858.gif\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"20\"><\/a>\u201cRegeneration, or the new birth, works a change in the whole nature of man, and, so far as we can judge, its essence lies in the implantation and creation of a new principle within the man. The Holy Ghost creates in us a new, heavenly, and immortal nature, which is known in Scripture as \u201cthe spirit,\u201d by way of distinction from the soul. Our theory of regeneration is that man in his fallen nature consists only of body and soul, and that when he is regenerated there is created in him a new and higher nature\u2014\u201dthe spirit\u201d\u2014which is a spark from the everlasting fire of God\u2019s life and love; this falls into the heart, and abides there, and makes its receiver a partaker of the divine nature.\u201d Thenceforward, the man consists of three parts, body, soul, and spirit, and the spirit is the reigning power of the three.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spurgeon.org\/misc\/sw01.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">C.
