<\/a>Matthew was all of 10 years old and his parents were divorcing. The fights and the negativity in the house was overwhelming, but Matt was a mature boy who knew he needed a healthy escape, which became ghosts. Some may not feel that ghosts were considered \u201chealthy\u201d, but Matt had a scientific mind and he loved picking my brain when it came to the paranormal and psychic phenomena. With this parent\u2019s permission (who were friends of mine), he would every so often email me questions or share a story of his own ghost hunting adventures and once in awhile, he would vocalize his sadness about his home situation. I knew my boundaries and I let him vent without offering much more than positive affirmations that he would do great. They were just small gestures of love and kindness that took all of 10 minutes of my time to share, but those few minutes helped Matthew find his wings and soar.<\/p>\nMatthew graduated this year with his Master\u2019s degree in engineering. He was kind of enough to send me an email when he graduated from high school and to let me know his college plans and then we complete lost touch with life leading us in different avenues, nothing more than that. He still loves all things ghosts, he said, and shared his gratitude \u2013 something I was grateful for, but wasn\u2019t in need of. It was, however, a grateful reminder of the lesson he gifted me back.\u00a0It\u2019s small gestures sometimes that help another find their wings. Wings that were there the whole time. It could simply be a smile to a stranger, or fresh cut flowers delivered to an elderly neighbor. It might be delivering coffee to a friend, or cutting the grass of a sick friend.<\/p>\n
We all have wings and we all have the ability to soar to any height that we want. We make the choice as to how far we want to go, along with how much we want to limit our destination, but it helps to have a cheering section there, even if a stranger.<\/p>\n
Remember that you are a beautiful and wonderful soul that deserves the best. Even through dark times, know that once your find your wings, you\u2019ll find the light again.<\/p>\n
