Earlier this month, a group of Muslims caused a minor panic by praying<\/a> in a store outside of Boston. Taking off their shoes and chanting \u201cloudly in Arabic,\u201d they left before store managers called police at the request of customers, who noticed their fatigue jackets (ok, now that\u2019s weird). The incident sparked a debate about religious awareness and 9\/11 safeguards. Some shoppers said the public prayers are unnerving without explanation. Muslims noted that they are required to pray wherever they are (private property notwithstanding, I suppose). \u201dIt\u2019s not a problem for me to pray,\u201d one Muslim said. \u201dIt\u2019s how people perceive what I\u2019m doing. I don\u2019t want to scare them, either.\u201d But the following week, more residents were<\/i> scared when a group of Turkish men went to local schools<\/a> asking questions with maps in hand. \u201dWe\u2019re not looking at it as anything other than something legitimate,\u201d a police officer said. \u201dBut we would like to talk to them, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n
