A look inside the life of a lazy Ph.D. student\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

I feel as though I have \u2018run the gauntlet\u2019 this last month, filled with late nights \u2013 some working against deadlines, others enjoying a new relationship \u2013 a terrible sore throat and tooth pain (and the eventual extraction of a wisdom tooth), a lecture in Oxford, a proposal for the American Academy of Religion, and a poster and paper for a recent conference here in Bristol. Oh, and a chapter of my thesis and a few other matters all somewhat sorted out. All the while teaching a new online course in world religions.<\/p>\n

It has been fun\u2026 \u201cFun.<\/em>\u201d \u2013 and a real honour to have the opportunities that I have had, especially spending time with and\/or conversing via email with several of my all time heroes of Buddhist<\/a> Studies<\/strong>, but I\u2019m more than ready for a little <\/em>break.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m back to my sitting, running, and catching up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sitting<\/strong>: returning to my breath more naturally for short, spontaneous meditations.<\/p>\n

Running<\/strong>: enjoying the ever-more frequent sunny days here in Bristol and renewed freedom to strap on my \u2018barefoot\u2019 running shoes (Vibram 5-fingers) and head to the parks.<\/p>\n

Catching up<\/strong>: blogging (and old comments), friends, family, etc; slowly but surely returning missed messages and emails.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow I\u2019ll head off to the very scenic British city of Bath for a\u00a0leisure\u00a0day with my girlfriend. Friday I\u2019m heading to Cheltenham (Gloucestershire) to lead a meditation at the kind invitation of\u00a0Dave Webster and the Uni students there<\/a>. Then I have a paper to edit for the Journal of Buddhist Ethics<\/a> over the weekend. After that hopefully I\u2019ll swing full circle to my own thesis again, along with some publishing opportunities. <\/span><\/p>\n

And maybe I\u2019ll clean my room. Maybe.<\/span><\/p>\n
