Sandoval<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/DrumsofDharma\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">@drumsofdharma<\/a>  on Twitter, posed the following provocative question and exercise today  within a couple of tweets:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If Sakyamuni Buddha were present today, how many \u201cmodern\u201d  Buddhists would give up everything to hear him, to be in his assembly?  Contemplate what you would have to do to relinquish your current  lifestyle for a life as a member of the Buddha\u2019s entourage.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It is a profound and provocative question, striking at the heart of our <span style=\"font-style: italic;font-weight: bold\">priorities <\/span>and reasons for calling ourselves \u2018Buddhist\u2019.<br><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joan Osborne - One Of Us\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B4CRkpBGQzU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br>Perhaps another way of putting the question would be to point out that there are many awakened ones \u2013 either self-proclaimed or as proclaimed by their followers \u2013 in the world.  What do we think of these individuals?
