I\u2019m about a month behind on this and I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ll ever understand this internet phenomenon, but, for what it\u2019s worth, apparently Buddhist meditation<\/a> groups are in on this thing as well (this one via Karme Choling<\/a>, a Shambhala center in northern Vermont):<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I find the \u201ckids react\u201d video much more \u2018enlightening\u2019:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"KIDS REACT TO HARLEM SHAKE\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NeGe7lVrXb0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Says one 10 year-old, \u201cStop it. Now! If you make one more video, I will pull your brains out and feed your liver to my dogs.\u201d (violent? yes. necessary? maybe.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And while we\u2019re looking at Buddhism being used in this new meme, here are a couple more videos, this one in the potentially offensive category (a guy dressed as a Tibetan monk with two women):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Harlem Shake - Buddhist Version\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/txx_CIl1MxI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">An also potentially offensive animation version:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Buddha Harlem Shake\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PqbuluHAGOo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And this (it\u2019s no worse than the previous):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=p3SJqRDCQfc\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=p3SJqRDCQfc<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">All of this makes one wonder: can someone make a \u201cgood\u201d Buddhist Harlem Shake video?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rod over at <a href=\"http:\/\/theworsthorse.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">theworsthorse.com<\/a>\u00a0(perhaps mercifully) hasn\u2019t mentioned any of this, but I think it\u2019s worthy of a \u201cDharma-Burger\u201d for its novel mix of Buddhism and pop-culture. It\u2019s worth a thought or two, at least, in case you thought Buddhism -or Buddhists- were \u2018above\u2019 all of
