<\/a>I\u2019ll be the first to admit I\u2019m not a fan of Bill O\u2019Reilly.<\/span> But I\u2019ll give him credit for this response to a letter on his show (via WORLD Mag<\/a>):<\/p>\n<\/span>\n

\n\u201cReligion is such a deeply personal issue and it is wrong to discuss what another person should believe. Mr. Hume should have contacted Tiger Woods privately instead of taking it public.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not a bad point,\u201d O\u2019Reilly responded. \u201cI\u2019m sure Hume had noble intentions when he addressed the golfer publicly, but it was a deeply personal assessment of Woods\u2019 predicament. We are all sinners. How many of us want to be told how to achieve forgiveness in a public forum?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I agree that Hume probably had the best of intentions; perhaps we could even say that his words were compassionate,<\/span><\/span> to use Buddhist<\/a> lingo. However the inappropriateness (which came out on many levels) shows Mr. Hume\u2019s lack of wisdom<\/span><\/span> in this matter.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\nAgreeing further with Mr. O\u2019Reilly in my own fashion, I will say that indeed we are all ignorant<\/span><\/span>, we all make mistakes.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\nForgiveness, the issue Hume originally raised, is about accepting this with compassion<\/span> and realizing deeply with wisdom<\/span> that all are capable of change \u2013 there is no solid core or Self upon which we can pin permanent labels of any kind. I still thank Brit Hume<\/a> for raising some good questions, even if unintentionally, and hope that people have used this as an opportunity to gain knowledge of both Buddhism<\/a> and Christianity.<\/div>\n
