The later\u00a0<em>official<\/em>\u00a0update remains in place at <a href=\"http:\/\/plumvillage.org\/news\/an-update-on-thays-health-19-feb\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">plumvillage.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~<\/p>\n<p>An announcement dated February 3rd and\u00a0posted on Tuesday the 17th is available at the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wkup.org\/update-thich-nhat-hanh-health-3-february-2015\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">wkup.org (link now goes to a 404 page).<\/a>\u00a0In the update,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/plumvillage.org\/about\/sister-chan-khong\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sister Ch\u00e2n Kh\u00f4ng<\/a>, Thich Nhat Hanh\u2019s\u00a0first fully ordained monastic and director\u00a0of his humanitarian projects, tells us that Thay has been relocated to a rehabilitation center in his hospital where he has been able to communicate with staff using eye gestures and his left arm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There, he is undergoing physical therapy to build strength in his back and legs, along with acupressure and acupuncture treatments.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #5a5a5a;\">One of the recent happiest moments for Thay was when he was with the speech therapist and enjoyed a quarter cup of tea! When Thay was finally able to hold his cup of tea upright, we declared, \u201cNow we shall have a tea meditation!\u201d Thay agreed and raised his hand as if about to speak and motioned for one of the attendants to give the therapist a short orientation on how to drink tea mindfully. Then Thay and his speech therapist had a sip of tea. While the therapist observed that Thay was swallowing properly, Thay also looked into his tea and smiled to her. Then he put his hand on his heart and the attendant explained that Thay was encouraging us to bring our mind back to our body and to look more deeply into and really enjoy the taste of tea and people around us.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thich Nhat Hanh has been in the hospital since his severe brain hemorrhage on November 11, spending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/americanbuddhist\/2014\/12\/thich-nhat-hanh-still-in-coma-is-recalled-across-the-globe.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">over a month in a coma<\/a> before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/americanbuddhist\/2015\/01\/thich-nhat-hanh-out-of-coma-wakeful-and-smiling.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">regaining full consciousness early this year<\/a>. The update concludes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">The path of healing for Thay is still long, but we are certain that with the love and the support sent by all of his friends and disciples and with the energy of Avalokiteshvara, Thay will overcome the difficulties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">Thank you so much for all the beautiful emails, prayer services, letters, post cards and adorable drawings by children.
