It\u2019s official (well not quite, still quite unofficial, but) \u2013<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been accepted<\/span><\/span> to Goldsmiths College<\/span> of <\/span>The University of London<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span>(with ties to the School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS, King\u2019s College-London, The London School of Economics, and other world renowned libraries\/research facilities).

So\u2026. <\/span><\/div>\n

Now again I\u2019m faced with choosing between wonderful, beautiful futures:<\/p>\n

Spending more time in Montana, honing my teaching and community organizing skills, networking in the community (both the local community and the larger academic community<\/span>), spreading my wings in the worlds of ethics and Buddhism\u2026..<\/p>\n

(for instance I was just sent an email from our leading philosopher suggesting I apply to teach at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth<\/a> this summer, I also have ties to and could potentially coach a team for the next Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl<\/a> \u2013 tie that in with continued work at the Center for Ethics<\/a> and hopeful adjunct professor status in Buddhism<\/a> for next year and I could have a very busy\/productive\/exciting year (or more) right here in the beautiful Rocky Mountains)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

OR\u2026. <\/span><\/div>\n

I could take the great plunge into London waters (England again!!) for three years of uber high-cost living and tuition, learn from one of the GIANTS of Buddhist<\/a> ethics, and emerge with a Ph.D\u2026 I\u2019d jet-set around a city with eternal appeal (actually spending the bulk of my time in libraries or my dorm room working), drinking six-dollar pints of Guinness from the local corner pubs with real British people, not to mention countless super-scholars in Buddhism and related fields. I\u2019d be within easyjet<\/a> distance from all of Europe (meaning I could fly to Germany, Ireland or Spain for the cost of 8 pints of Guinness).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oh, the agony\u2026<\/p>\n

The familiar vs the adventurous\u2026<\/p>\n

Holding out hopes for Harvard, Stanford, or Berkeley vs plunging into that final stretch of schooling\u2026<\/p>\n

London fog vs Missoula inversion\u2026<\/p>\n

Ok\u2026 obviously this isn\u2019t something I\u2019m going to decide in the next thirty minutes. Oh well. Feel free to toss your two cents in.<\/p>\n
