Call for Papers\/Abstracts\/Proposals<\/span>
Hawaii International Conference on Arts & Humanities January 12 \u2013 15, 2007 Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, the Radisson Waikiki Prince Kuhio, and the Pacific Beach Hotel, Hawaii, USA.<\/p>\n

Since many people have individually asked for an extension of the submission deadline, we are extending the deadline for submissions to Wednesday, September 13th, 2006.<\/p>\n

Call for papers, abstracts, student papers, work-in-progress reports, research proposals, workshop proposals, poster sessions, research tables, or reports on issues related to teaching, practitioner forums, panel discussions, and tutorials. For more information on the format of
submissions see http:\/\/www.hichumanities.org\/cfp_artshumanities.htm<\/a><\/p>\n

Last year I submitted (an abstract of) my still unfinished MA dissertation for Bristol and was accepted. While there I learned that they (must have) accepted pretty much everything. They had 1450 \u2018participants\u2019 \u2013 and the preliminary program I received included 2500 presentations with many people presenting twice (I assume also that many of those in the preliminary program simply could not make it to the conference).<\/p>\n

This year I think I\u2019ll submit my work on \u201cSartre and Subjectivity\u201d from last Spring along with \u201cWho or What is a Dalai Lama\u201d from my MA work in Bristol. Both deal roughly with the work I\u2019ll do my thesis on here: personal identity\/subjectivity. Also it will give me two more opportunities to hone my conference\/presentation skills. For the (aspiring) academic, such skills are quite necessary and like Aristotle\u2019s virtues they can only be developed by habituation.<\/p>\n
